Try and buy colette's old baby then, was a good bike, i can half vouch that the last owner of it actually gave a damn about it ;-).

hey fallen angel, strongly suggest u take one for a test ride first, see if ur comfortable on it. i bought a 1991 ZZR600 and was too heavy for me & just wasnt practical in that sense .. i couldnt move it back or forth (wen in neutral/parked) even tried the whole grab the front brake and try and bounce the bike back.. nope.. nothing.. ended up selling it and going back on a twofiddy (for now anyways).

Weight and power is the massive difference between the 2 bikes, Colette sold hers primarily for weight reasons I belive, although she would be better expanding on that.

Mine's a 96 model and it weighs a heap, Karen's is an 04? model and probably weighs less than mine...

Have to admit.. love the ZZR but shes a bit of a elephant in the weight department. I do the paddle paddle on my tippy toes, and have had a couple of OH SHIT moments n done the static drop. Twice

I also have a 95 ZX6, while its slighly taller.. mucho lighter n I can acually wheel it about without freaking out.

Apart from the weight issue. In regards to height it is generally more a confidance thing than getting more of your feet on the ground .So instead of buying something really heavy just for seat height maybe become more confident and upgrade to a higher and lighter bike when you feel ready.Just my 2 cents worth :D

Gotta agree with that, almost logical even....

Anyone have a link showing stock dry/wet weights so people can see the diff between what they are currently riding and waht's next step up the ladder?

Redbook used to have wiehgts, not sure it does anymore..

So according to chart zx9r is 10 kgs lighter and 44 more horses  than a zzr600. So i think the choice is simple 8) Go and see the bootmaker or just go for it

An F-model ZX-6R. About the same reach to the ground from the seat, but it's shorter and some 15kg lighter. That still makes it some 45kg heavier than a ZZ-R250, though.
