Flat tracker paradise

Thu Sep 21, 2006 11:04 pm

Here are a couple of nice flat-trackers...

The green one is a XS650B, bought back in April, work started in June to rebuild it into a flat-tracker. Mods as follows:

* Frame mods to remove all unneccesary frame tubes and lugs, brackets etc. Additonal brackets added for seat, electrics. Powder-coated.
* Polished rims, re-built wheels, new bearings, seals etc everywhere.
* Genuine flat-tracker seat and tank from U.S
* Genuine Omar's flat-tracker pipes, HPC coated.
* 36mm round-slide Mikuni carbs, K&N filters.
* Widest handlebars on God's green earth......almost 1 metre wide :shock:
* Heaps of custom-built extras. It is a jewel. Fully registered as well...... :wink:

The silver bike is a XT500, bought in this condition late last year. The engine in this baby has been bored and stroked to 705cc, and it sounds and runs like a speedway bike on methanol. Runs a rim-mounted front disc brake, handmade by the previous owner. Talon hubs, rear disc, genuine flat-track seat, modified Honda tank.

Any other flat-tracker anoraks out there ??

cheers

that is a dinkum BMX'er from back around 1978 ?? this was the first BMX'er that my mate owned as a young tacker, so when one came up on e-bay, well, that was that. It was in the shed within a week.........

Marty - not Deus Ex Machina bikes, but yes they do look very similiar to bikes built by those boys.

Yep, that is a dinkum Golden Fleece pump circa 1960 ??? It is graduated in gallons, and is a gravity-pump ( as far as I know, I am no expert on these buggers) -apparently you had to pump the juice up into the big glass thingy at the top, and then the guzzolene was delivered down the hose into your tank......the pump figure is about 18cents per gallon.......

don't you miss those days ?? :wink:

Update on the trackers - today, the green one had its first decent shakedown run out on the local scratchers road. It went really well, everything works just *perfect*, and its not too many XS650's you will see that can get a footpeg down on every corner !! :shock: it was pretty funny, these are brand-new old stock footpegs FFS !!!

gotta love hot tarmac :P
