Sad to lose a man with such passion and abilities...but bound to happen when you playing with the killers that he did

Irony is that of all the dangerous creatures he'd f@ck with... it was a STINGRAY???

If only he'd used SPF 15+........he'da been safe from dangerous rays!

Post mortem results say the barb pierced his heart and he died instantly. Apparently the footage shows him swimming close to the ray and it must have thought to close and bang. Steve just stops moving and sinks to the bottom. Game over.

:( Pretty bloody sad, I never realised how popular he was O/S till I came here all of the expat Pommies, Yanks, Scandinavians and Canadians love him.
RIP and condolences to his young family.

far from a typical aussie bloke, but probably the leading cause for the stereotype.... I reckon he would have been exactly the same in real life as he was on TV....

Seemed like a top guy.... Not afraid of anything right till the end.... Millions who dont like him would be so lucky...

He was human like all of us.... Made mistakes like all of us (the Bindy crock feeding incident)... Ive always liked his over the top personality though.... rest in peace steve.....

Yeah your right, happened in 2004 so that would have made her a little old.

Irwin held his baby son Bob under one arm while he fed a 13-foot (4-meter) crocodile named Murray with a dead chicken. Irwin later walked the baby inside the crocodile's enclosure as crowds looked on.

does ne1 remeber the 1st series he was doin..he was like Dr Harry.... to crocs...ppl would call & say "i got this effin big croc trying to chew off me arm in the barn"...and he would load up his wagon, race out there, catch the croc, take it back..& put the dirty big bastard back in the water!!

a weaker man woulda just shot the thing...

personally, i thought the guy was awesome..he wasnt scared of sumthin that could tewar him apart (in fact he was trying to conserve them)...

so condolences to the family, and RIP steve....
