COUNTDOWN!

Postby Strika » Fri Sep 08, 2006 12:01 am

I just got back from the Countdown concert. Now for those not old enough to remember, it was the pre-cursor to shows Like rage, and Video Hits etc etc., Hosted by Molly Meldrum.

Tonight was just nostalgia awesome!!!!!!

For those who will remember, here are a few of the Highlights...........

John Paul Young.

Ross Wilson Mondo Rock/Daddy cool

Brian Manix Uncanny X men

James Reyne Aussie Crawl

Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons/Joe Camilerri

Renee Geyer-Faark was she awesome

Hush- Yeah, I missed them live in the 70's, but the were mad. The did their whole fireworks and flaming guitars thing.

Sherbet - Hate Darryl Braithwaite, this was the worst part of the show.

Grace Knight

Joe Dolci-still funny

Models

Psuedo Echo

and there were prolly that many more bands again. It was just a full blown memory jig!!!! We had floor seats, 15 rows back dead centre! Magic :D

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

i was working there tonight and and the next couple also. even though i'm a bit young for that era, the music did sound great. (lot's of old people around to watch the show, by my observations)

We saw the Sydney one on Friday night. I thought it was pretty good although I thought some were pretty ordinary, notably Renee Geyer who was bloody awful. She must have been having a bad night or something Wendy Stapleton wasn't that good either I thought. Meldrum's bit was just boring.

Hush were really good although old Keith has knocked himself around over the years. Ole 55 were a bit of a highlight too I thought, and Brian Mannix. Mondo Rock played exceptionally well. My missus loved Sherbet, I never liked em so thought it was too long.

Overall it was a pretty good show, albeit bloody expensive at $139.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.
