R&G knobs

Thu Aug 31, 2006 4:18 pm

Just wondering if anyone has R&G knobs that go through the fairing? I was wondering what's the go with removing an engine mounting bolt whenever you want to take your fairings off? Seeing as they are a torqued bolt it must bugger them eventually.

Dunno if it buggers them.
I had this setup on the ZZR600 - was a bitch to have to remove them to remove the fairing, but I put up with it.
Might cause a problem over time - but how many times would you have to torque a bolt before it fails? I'd assume more often than you'd service the bike.

I have a set of the R&G ones on my 2000 ZX6R(thats for sale)
You get replacement engine bolts that are longer.
The knob then slides onto them and is then bolted on.
To take a panel off you just undo the nut and remove the knob. The bolt stays in there.

was diff on the ZZR600.
As AussieNinja said there's a skinny bit that actually goes through the fairing, so in order to take the fairing off you had to take the knob off.

To get the knob off you either had to find a skinny double-jointed 10 year old to weave their arm inside the fairing to get a spanner to hold the nut of the bolt still while you then undo the bolt, or you loose some skin and do the same.

I wish I was on whatever you think I'm on - might be nice
