Pick-up spool/knob size - ZX7R 96 P1

Off hand do any of you know the size of the thread for pick up spools/knobs for 96 P1 ZX7R? I dont have the bike with me to dummy fit bolts at the moment. I have a feeling they are M10's but anyone who definately knows would be a great help.

Additionally if anyone has online access to zx7r service manual, could I get a copy?

that was the saem on the 95-97 zx6r everywhere sold me the m10 which never fit even after 1 shop looking them up in the book

in the end i had to measure myself to get the right ones

Mate just make sure if ur gonna use only the bolts, u use 8.8 high tensile bolts. They should have an 8.8 stamped on the head of the bolt.

Was intending on getting proper spools online and there must have been a sale on M10's as they were so cheap.

The price the bike shop quoted was $35. This sound reasonable?

They were $24 + 5 postage online.

mate go to bunnings, pack of 10 for $7...cant go wrong.

Yep there an M12 but im sure that they are a fine thread.

Metric corse (standard) are M12 x 1.75
Metric fine are M12 x 1.5

These bolt sizes are readily available from hardware stores(Bunnings).
Bolts for allen keys are called socket head cap screws if you are looking for them.

Also there is no need for high tensile bolts as a normal M12 bolt has a shear strength of around the 1000kgs, but make sure they have some sort of plating to stop them from rusting, cadmium/crome etc cadmium is the most common (cheapest form of electroplating) and look a yellow colour.

i'd diagree....

if u have ur bike on the stand and u jump on it and then ur gf jumps on the back, i dont think the mild steel/4.3 grade will be tough enough.

for a few cents more u wouldnt risk it.

get 8.8, only use the best
