Has anyone polished their wheels? How did you go about it?

Send em south or buy yourself a carton of bourb', heaps of sheets of different grade sandpaper (wet n dry) and start rubbing and finish with a quick polish (if the missus still does that sort of thing)
ps. you WILL burn all your finger tips....

what he said. It's a shit job. It'll take you a couple of days unless you,ve got a die grinder and the right polishing wheels. Polishers charge about $800 and it's about right considering the work that goes in to it.

Esie, my mate Bruce got his done through the dodgy bike shop in Moss st...
I'd rather not mention which of the shop it was but it turned out to be quite a good job and from memory was only a few hundred for both wheels...

Have a look here Anne it might be some help, just check whether your wheels are painted or powder coated, I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

I did the outer edges of my wheels a while ago and only had to use paint stripper and autosol. They machine the edges after casting the wheel so the finish underneath the paint is pretty good and doesn't take much cleaning up. Just be sure to mask up the bits you don't want to strip. If you want to do the centres as well it is much harder and does involve lots of wet & dry and elbow grease.

Just have them anodized.... Its a hell of alot easier and they are sooo easy to clean. You dont need to worry about polishing them coz all they need is a wipe over with a soapy sponge (and a shammy if your anal enough) and there done!
