Believe it or not, I wasn't always a copper. I've done stupid things. And when ever I got busted by the local copper, I was never cowardly enough to run away...

For all you others I'll say this. The gaols of this country are chock full of brave young men, and women who stood their ground and took it on the chin when the cops asked them, "Did you do it?".

Get the idea out of your heads that the police are here to protect you and look out for you and that it is your civic duty to cooperate with them. They are definately not here to protect you! Look at the crap with the lebenese gangs. All that trouble occured and all those young girls got raped because the cops there backed away from the gangs in sydney. They ran away from their duty to protect, Cowards!

You get in trouble in the city after dark or in your house alone and your on your own folks so you better learn how to look after yourself. The cops will go to great lengths to protect politicians, rich people and there own, but you and I are way down the list. Were the unwashed masses, fine fodder and promotion fodder.

In all fareness it's not all the cops fault, their bosses call the shots and they toe the line. But that doesn't matter a toss if a gang of thugs crash your party and it takes the cops 40 minutes to turn up.

If a rich bastard with influence gets pulled over for speeding, or his kid gets caught with drugs, the chances are they get off scot free. So take the hint! If the cops come to your door, don't answer it. If they pull you over for no reason and start asking a lot of personal questions, tell them nothing or you may find yourself set up for a crime you didn't do.

And if you have broken the law, cut out and cover your tracks, that's not cowardly, it's just being smart. You owe them nothing because as we all know most of the laws these days are bullshit anyway, they don't stop crime and they certainly don't make us safer on the roads.

Cowardly, that'll be the day! It takes courage to refuse the orders of an armed man and turn your back on him. Cowardly is giving up and surrendering your freedom.

I read the article chameleon, just so i could make an informed comment. It sounded like the writer is not only a racist, but also has a personal vendetta against the then commisioner Mr. Peter Ryan. It wasn't what I would call an even handed piece of journalism!!!

To this i say, what is the problem? They did a crime, then they admitted it, now they are serving time in gaol for that crime. Where's the problem?

I have lived through the Fitzgerald enquiry they had here, I have been in the clubs when the cops came by to collect the bribes. You want to live a dream world where everything is rosy and all the cops are honest that's your choice. I prefer to live in the real world myself, with all it's good and bad.

apart from yourself no one has suggested that we live in a dreamworld where everything is perfect. However, just because one police officer is bad, I am naturally going to treat them all the same. Thats pretty logical. I find your attitude to the law quite distastefull. Nothing personal intended. I am sure If I was having a beer with you, you would be great company. As far as the 6 O'clock news is concerned, Sometimes I do watch it. Usually it's an alternative station rather than the traditional commercial network, but yeah, I look to know whats going on in the world so I can make informed decisions and not blind myself with ignorant prejudices.

If you are not racist, then why choose, a supporting article. That whole article has more bias and personal motivation than most of the commercial networks news coverage.

The fact is, this is diatribe motivated more likely than not by sour grapes from the author, than anything else. How much of it is the truth, and not a slanted or skewed version of the truth we will probably never know. But I read it to make sure I knew what I was talking about when I responded. The whole article reaks of a beat up more than the Big Brother Turkey Slap!!!!
