Oh look, I did a Neka and double posted. Quick, somebody spank me!

Did you see the reading? Legally, you don't have to be shown the reading, but I'd be interested to know if you saw it?

Regardless, if I was facing two years of walking because of a speeding offence, I'd be getting myself a lawyer.

its not the 2yrs its the Goal time i mite get :(

aardy - have u ever had a mobile radar give you a bs reading ? (just asking out of curiosity) ... unless it was modified and running on a VERY steep downhill for a few km's there's no way a GPX250 could get to 183km/h
bananas -> bigger and harder than you !

You shouldnt be relying on the internet for this sort of advice.

If your lawyer isnt telling you this stuff about the speed being ridiculous and you have to come to the internet for advice then he is a shit lawyer and you need a better one asap!

You shouldnt stuff around when you get a charge like this, take out a loan if you have to.

Ive seen friends get every book thrown at them for minor things because they went to court with garbage lawyers (the free legal aid ones are the worst)
And Ive also seen friends walk away with nothing for very serious offences because they had top shelf lawyers. (in one case a group were there for the same incident, the legal aid ones went down, the barrister ones who were actually responsible had charges dismissed)

Talk to that barrister at work if he is available, thats a handy thing to have.
He can at least recomend what you should be doing.

Honestly.... No. But there are several circumstances when they can't be used because of the possibility that they MAY give inaccurate results.

Thats thought did cross my mind, i could of hit the side streets, but i then thought if they eventually do catch me i would of been in more hot water, so i pulled over to cop a grilling...

I can see kishy ending up like one of those videos you see on TV.... "Oh no, Hes coming up to an intersection and hes not slowing down... I CANT BELEIVE IT he is speeding up! He is going to make it! oh no....... no no...... this is bad... Im going to be sick..."
The world is round. It has no point.

I cant believe that the cops booked you at 180 kays and they got away with that. Two things come to mind here,1st a gpx 250 would never do that speed, even on a down hill slope with a 100 k/h wind behind you and 2nd even if it was possible to reach that speed, how long would you think it would take to get there?Probably a good couple of kilometers i reckon,so did you have a long enuff road to reach that speed and how long where the cops following you for?????If you had got a good mouth piece and proven that there reading could not have been right, then the charge would have been thrown out of court.Good luck with it anyway,i think alot of us have been down this rd before.

Mate for one i was only a GPX RII 250, dou you honestly think it would out run a BA XR8 umarked cop car? and 2 im not that silly, once the get your number plate you are fucked and 3 every cop car here in newcastle has a video camera on the dash, so evan if i did get away they would have my , my number plate and what my riding gear is on record so they would catch me eventually....

Yep it would have been a mistake. I remember being on my little scooter and pulling a mono in front of a cop car (by mistake, didn't see them). I thought I'd try and lose them by darting down a side-street flat out....they were parked up in front of me in roughly 15 seconds

Did manage it on my mbx80 but that was different as I chucked it in a ditch on a building site

Seriously though, not recommended.
Motorcycle's are inherently unstable...

That sucks mate... cause 180 from a gpx sounds abit rich..

More like they did 180 to catch you... And YES I have heard a cop say someone was speeding cause they had to go xx speed to catch them..

I wonder how they picked up your speed, surely with a good lawyer those sort of facts would be brought out into the open..

Was it estimation? and at what point? as you passed? What speed were they doing?? because if you were doing 180k's they would had to of been clocking over 200K's to have caught you?

How long was the road? why? if it was 3 k's long and the server was 1k from the start of the stretch, then that's 2k's for a 250cc bike to get from go to wo in traffic then hit 180k's..

It may be quite easy to prove the physical impossibilities of your case to a judge. With any luck things will go through then you can prove the flaws in the police's case and have the entire case dismissed.. If you can prove their estimation wrong, and prove the reliability of their case in jeapody then the case quite possibly could be dismissed because they can't just charge you in the middle of a court case for 140k's... You are charged for 180k's and that is the case.

But your fighting the man, so this might simply equate to the equiv sentence.

Good luck mate, do your home work and get all that information.

Personally if it were me, i'd even get the bike sorted out so it can't go that fast... sproket or whatever.. lol

They where behind me when they first flashed the headlights as i think they where jut going to randomly pull me over for a RBT, as it was after midnight and its not uncommon for people to get pulled over on that stretch of road, they got me on radar, well thats what the report says... the road would be about 1.5 to 2km long, slightly up hill and i had a head wind and a backpack full of stuff, so i dont think my bike would do 180 :S but im in the middle of finding out if i can get home detention, just had an interview with one of the officers about it and they THINK they may let me do it evan though i work on a licenced premises(fingers crossed)
