I would keep a full tank of fuel to keep the tank from rusting. Then dump the fuel and put fresh one in when I want to ride the bike again.

mate i dont ride often but when it comes to it, start the bike up for about 10-15 minutes every 4 weeks and u should be ok.

if u can take it for a 15minute run, thats even better. I ride my up to the property which is about 10-15 minutes up the road, have a smoke then come back. Gives me time to clean the cob webs out.

its been established that starting it but not riding it is going to do more harm than good

oh, as for batteries, im told the easiest option is to just drain the fluid and keep it in a suitable container, then you can leave it as long as you want. just tip it back in and charge it when its warm enough to ride again

u shouldnt start an engin without actually using it ( riding , driving) its just the way things are , cos the bike gets all warmed up and exsited and them u turn it off and it dusnt know what to do and things crack and do silyl things .

my dad works at a mine so hes only home for 2 weeks in ever 6 there for his bike is left in the shed as is after last ride for a month , and it goes fine :) for the 2 weeks hes home he rides the shit out of it and then parks it in the shed for 4 Etc. etc. lol

a healthy battery should be able to go 4 weeks without use.... an average one probably wont tho

even still, should get a battery tender for those 4 weeks, cheaper than buying a new battery
