ZX636 Prices

Postby Saki » Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:47 pm

G'day guys,
I am looking to upgrade to a new bike soon, with this in mind i want to jump to the next step which is a 600 :) i have always had my eye on the ZX636 '05.. there is something about this bike which i am sure most of u will agree with me on here, but its NICCCCEEE!!!!

anyway i just wanted to get some sort of idea how much people have seen them sell for in dealerships... most i have encountered are around $14,990. With this in mind i have seen second hand ones sell for the same price!
The point i am trying to get at is, what prices have people seen them in the show rooms for as buying new is prob the way to go. Plus cause i am in tassie stuff tends to be a little more expensive so i was wondering if it owuld b cheaper up on the bigger island!

Imagine 2006 ZX636  (of course in green)

$12000 was the cheapest i saw, and it's less green than the 2003- 2004 model, and the 2004 model is a bit cheaper, even tho i know the techs are diff, but i personally think the 03 model is more agressive with more pointy head and headlight

i'd wait until the new model 2007 as advised by others in this forum to come out and hence the price for 05 model will drop :D

good luck to it

Boltons Kawasaki in Adelaide have 05 636's at $13490 +on road. Don't forget with a new bikle you get 2 years warranty and I'm pretty sure most dealers will be pretty flexable with the ORC given they need to start moving the 05's as the 06 are stitting there waitng.

Hi Saki,

I paid 14K out the door nearly 4 months ago, and I reckon u can probably go 13.5 or even less, considering it's late into it's 2 year cycle and Kawasaki sales are down atm.

Re 2007 model: there's always gonna be the next best thing just around the corner, and prices will always be lower in 6 months - tis the way of things. Make a decision and be happy with it.

If your considering getting a new 600 sports, I would seriously look at getting the just released suzuki gsxr 750. I hope I don't get banned from this forum for saying that! :P It's a little more expensivo tho. I love my 636, just wish it had more low-end toque. Good luck!

i ultimately want a ZX10R, but for me it would b over kill atm and i want to make a gradual change. I know people will say that comment i just made is a bt extreme, but i am not made of money either so i have to make a decision about wat i want!

I like the 03 model, but the front lights on the 05 is wat does it for me, thats y i would perfer one over an 03

$13,xxx seemed alright, + with a 2 year warranty that is quite a good deal, and in most cases is better than buying second hand.
Anyone seen anything much cheaper...
I am going to have to ride it from where ever i buy it to more than likely the spirit of tas and get it boated back! which is a good oppurtunity to do a bit of running in with some steady highway km's!!!!
wat about in Vic and Nsw ??

mate the 03/04 while a good bike...actually..from everyone who had one, and rode a 05 or other bike, they werent THAT great....
word is they were a bit harsh on the suspension..not so great for a learner of big bikes, who wants sumthin a lil more forgiving...
Both Plasma & Tanya have metioned this...altho Stereo & Rob love theirs, but both these guys have a wealth of experience/stupidity/drunkeness.

if u can find a good priced 05 go for it..if not, go the 03/04 but be wary of it til u master it...dont go the gixxer or u will hate urself...

They have the 05 titaniums going for $14 on road in Sydney, and thats before you start the haggling.
Although I prefer the look of the 04, pipes are suppose to be on the side of your bike IMO

obviously like anything new i am not gunna go flat stick on a step up, but it is something i could adjust to gradually!!
i love the look of the 636, performance is my priority and this bike seems to cater for my needs
i am going to try to test ride both before i make up my mind, but the look of the 05/06 model is wat is doing it for me atm!!!

If performance is your real priority then there is no real contest, the 05 is the way to go. I loved my 03 636 (and yes the suspemsion was unbelievably hard) and at the time thought it was the be all and end all, that was until I got my first ride on my 05, worlds apart from the 03 and a huge improvement.

i have ridden neither so its not really my place to comment on either, but i would assume only improvements could be made on the newer model!!

I just bought a green 05 this week.
ive only done about 50 ks on it but it is awesome so far :)

EvilSim - you done some great mods to your bike.

I remember you did the dual headlight mod to your bike.
have you had any problems with it? eg fuses/bulbs blowing etc

any chance you could post or pm a headlight up grade for dummies?
no worries if you cant. I will figure it out eventually :)

Saki - i really dont think you would be dissapointed with the ZX6.
they look awesome and go awesome from all reports ive heard and the 2 days ive had one.
