Well, one thing the photos point to is that the 11,000km is very, very likely genuine. That's still the original D207F (yuck) front tyre on the thing.

For seven grand, either buy it yourself or tell me where your bro works so that I can buy it... otherwise, you and I are going to have words.

they are mega high compression aren't they??

12.2:1, from memory. Not as high as contemporary and subsequent ZX6's; they're 12.8:1.

i am guessing that means they need to run on optimax???

As stated elsewhere, not necessarily Optimax per se, but, yes, they do appreciate 96- or 98-octane fuel.

Oh those things are nasty. Had them on my gixxer when i got it...changed them 2 days later.

Thanks heaps for all your input guys. I am going to test ride it this week..was meant to be this weekend, but the battery was flat due to it sitting inthe showroom for so long. Turned out to be a good thing cause it pissed down rain all weekend.

I think it has a BT020 on the rear, and like you said the rock on the front...so i will have to budget 450 for new tires.

Since i am not going to be doing trackdays on this thing i am not concerned about it not being the sharpest tool in the shed, but from experience that matters little, its more about skill. I was carving people up on my 250 in B1 at trackdays and that bike only had about 30hp.

I was just talking to the owner of the dealership....was talking to another guy there previously. The owner is saying now he can't take any less than 8 grand for the bike.
I think i could get a CBR929 for that amount...which is fuel injected, USD forks and more developed bike. If i do decide i don't buy it is anyone still interested in it???
Also i guess...i know you guys would be bias, but would you go a zx9 over a 929? and why?

i would take a ZX9 over a 929 personally... but i wouldnt pay the same ammount for one - which is why i prefer the 98-99 models, essentially the same bike but a fair whack cheaper.

im familiar with 954's (an 02 model with micron slip on and BMC filter to be precise) and can say they are a lot lighter, but also a lot flightier and very nervous.. definately needs a steering damper.. i still prefer the large, stable, comfy feel of the 9R... the 954 feels too small IMO, and im barely 6 foot and ~87kg..

the 954 has better throttle response and more power below 5k (my bike has slightly poor carburation donw low, needs to see a dyno) but above that my bike really spews out ponies like a shower of shit 8) but then my bike has a lot more mods done to it...

the 954 has a rather annoying flatspot around 3-4k, i think its due to the exhaust valve.. tho it probably helps low down power..

a while ago i rode BrennyP's 954 with full micron system and tuning, didnt really give it hell but it was smoother down low than the bike with just a slipon.

personally i dislike the short wheelbase of the 954.. its definately easier to ride fast thru twisty stuff, but around town it just wants to wheelie when you give it a fist full... where the 9R will just rocket forward like a dragster with a wheeliebar 8) tho the wheel will certainly pop right up if you provoke it.

7k was a bargain, 8k is nothing special. id recommend test riding it just to see what you think of it yourself... maybe leave him your number if he changes his mind
