Righto, I have to have a chat with them about the tail section for the Crim anyway, so I'll see what they can do. Not too much left in the Shinko's, and seeing as though my most recent tyre supplier is back in Hospital  I need to look at some other options...just have to talk to the minister of war and finance first....

Plas had a set of Dunny Q's on the 636 today and they appeared to errr..........hang on very nicely indeed!

I had a little look at them at the top of the Reefton spur, and they look like michelins do at that early stage of wear, not torn to shreds like loops of old! :D

After using the very last available grip from the rennsports on the Spurs ride on friday, I finally went and picked up the Dunlop Qualifiers I had put aside. I am going to have them fitted on Monday. However I am in Perth and Brissie for the next couple of weeks so won't get an opportunity to add another opinion to the board  Not that it matters now as several people have posted good reviews of them.

I had a good close look at these new Qualifiers, and I can see why they work so well.

Firstly they are round! I have always had far more success with round tyres. Ones that arn't round tend to be uncomfortable at higher speeds.

Also found that they were both 17 inches in diameter. Now this works out great too as both my rims are 17 inches in diameter too!

They are black, and this works a treat offsetting my charcoal grey wheels.

The sidewalls have this little groove thingy, which from looking at it, matches the groove thingy on my rims too.

These tyres have grooves in them. And they are all squigly. I reckon they look pretty cool. They are almost like flames. Maybe I will have to get one of those tyre pens, and fill the grooves in red to look like my tyres are on fire. Cause that's important isn't it!

They are round across the profile too. Not like those tyres on my car which are all flat on the bottom, nah, my bike tyres taper off at the sides. The dunlop guys tell me thats why my motorbike leans better with them. I don't really care that much, just as long as I look really cool.

They have really cool writting on the side of the tyre. This is pretty important for Cafe cred on a friday night as you know!

Once I have returned from this work junket, I will do a mad run down to St Kilda for youse all, grab a Latte' and then ride back. It's at least 3 kilometres each way, so I will be able to give you a full handling and grip assesment upon my return. As long as I can do fully sick stoppies, and spew some serious smoke on my rolling burnouts I am gunna be happy!

you are a dead set scream Strika   8)

Had the Qualifiers fitted while I was over in Vic after swearing by (and converting several people to) Bridgestone BT014's. I did a run through the Spurs with Strika and the boys to scrub them in.

My 2c so far is that they are better than the Powers by quite a bit and given a choice between the Dunnies and the Bridggies (which were brilliant) I would definately go the Dunnies again. Warmed up in no time, brilliant grip from the get go, perfomed really well in the wet and at the ....a'hem...accellerated pace  of the trip to Halls Gap were very confidence inspiring.

If you are due for tyres give em a go, you can always go back next time if you don't like em but I think I'll be sticking with them for a while.

Well I finally got a chance this morning to have those Dunlop Qualifiers fitted to the Hornet! Man was I getting motorcycle withdrawal symptoms.

I went straight down to St Kilda to see if there was anyone there to show off my new tyres to, and in the hope that there would be some chicks down there just dying to see me doing rolling burnouts and stoppies down Fitztroy St, as they all are.......

I was really impressed with the way the Dunlop Qulaifiers looked when mounted up on the rim. Dunlop have obviously put a lot of time and effort into they styling of the new Dunny Q's, as they really were grabing loads of attention while parked in front of the cafe.

Thus far, I am extremely happy with my purchasing decision on the dunny Q's, as they rode real well in the centre of the tyre all the way from my place for the 6 klm journey to St Kilda. I even gave them a huge fist full of throttle on the way down and revved the tits off my bike. I think it nudged just the other side of 3500 rpm. But I backed off cause it was getting a little scary!

One of the best features of these new tyres, is the yellow stripe that runs around the left shoulder of the tyre. It sits about 5 cm's to the left of the centre of the tread. If I try really hard one night going to Fitztroy St, I may even get that yellow stripe to touch the road! That would be cool hey. I will have a go on my next couple of trips, and if I do I will let you know.

Anyhow after the Latte's, I started getting bored with all the girls checking out my bike. So...once she had finished.... I helped her get her labrador back in his harness for the walk home.

Then I went for a ride with a mate. Check out the rides thread for the full story.

I am unsure as to if these new Dunlops are going to last anywhere near as long as I would have expected. :( I have done around 2000klms on them and there is probably only 2K left in them. :x

I got 4K and 4.5K out of my last two rear Metzler rennsports, so will be disapointed if the mileage doesn't exceed that considerably, and by looking at the tyres they won't!

On the grip side things are starting to get a little iffy too. They walk around a lot. Several times today on grippy dry, warm sunbaked tarmac the tyres started crab walking there way across the road. Don't get me wrong, they didn't feel like they were going to fall over, but they sure walk around....alot......heaps actually!!!!

Now remember boys and girls, these are the Japanese spec Qualifiers from a new arse hix, not the pucka ones made in the the good Ole You Ess of Ay! So the others may be different.

But if 4k is all I can get outta them, they can feck orf, and I will put race tyres back on it!!! At least I know I am getting awesome grip for my 4000 kilometres

If anyone else has some feedback on the Pucka ones please post up an impression.

One of the guys on the ride today, has a set of the pucka ones, and he has done about the same kilometres as mine have, and they are wearing the same, and he also complained of his rear tyre sliding about going up the spur today. We checked the tyre as it had a puncture repaired earlier in the day, however it was holding pressure fine. :?

should really ask the question how fast where you going when they started walking around????

Really really really fast or just average ho hum comuter speed because i would rather have something that walks a bit and then a lot than something that goes grip grip grip zing and it all ends in tears.

Just me though and 4000kms isnt too bad so long as you arent doing 10000kms a month.

Nah just normal speed for that run. So was a little surprised at how they went. :?

*bump*

Anyone else tried these qualifiers lately?

Interested in feedback.

Need a set of tyres and looking to try something different. Tyres would be used for "spirited" weekend riding and possibly the odd track day.
