I have been using McAfee but are there better programmes that people have used or recommend?
Thanks

I don't run any antivirus software. Never have. Occasionally I'll run one of the online ones, but nothing has ever been detected.

I use Vet..its a local product
its cheap and the daily update and customer service is excellent
I also use it coz my old Uni Computer Science lecturer (since retired)

you are very lucky Jase
I ocassionally get crap email doing everything from
wanting to know my sex life to my bank details (phishing)
but
there is the odd instance where a trojan or virus is in it
Vet pipes up when I look at the mail and sez...virus deleted
end of story
I just feel happier its there
cheers

I'd prefer to use something than have nothing, but it is not just for email, but for downloads as well.

I use Grisoft AVG Anti Virus - it's free and does the job.
I work in IT and on a project it's what the architect chose for us when the client was too tight to buy something.

I use NAV Coporate edition.... its not very resource hungry...

i used to use grisoft, but then found the freeware versioin of the program clunky and shitty to use, used the full version for a bit and that was half decent, but required friggin around with the email settings to use the internal mail scanner and they had b-s with the registration system for a while, so i gave it the arse in favour of grisoft avg which is good and only requires a annual re-registration so they can track demographics of its usage.

some spammer/cracker/hacker found a hole in the NAV software
that enables an outsider to use it to control ya PC

Nortons, Zone Alarm and Spyware.
Not really my department, however. My brother does all that stuff, I just use it.

At home I run VET and sit behind a Linux proxy. At work we usually use Symantec Antivirus (Corporate or Enterprise). Version 10's actually not bad (coming from someone who doesn't like Norton for various reasons).
