Dont believe the 3M lie....

Self adhesive, easily removable hooks my bloomin ass!!

You know those little 3M self adhesive hooks that are being advertised on the TV all the time......

They dont bloody remove!

I pulled the little tab as per the instructions and it just ripped off.....

Bit of a let down, let me tell ya...

I rang 3M and the customer support person didnt even sound surprised.... She just said (as if reading from a script) "3M recommends that you get a piece of fishing wire or floss and run it along the back of the product and it will remove cleanly without removing your paint"
The world is round. It has no point.

yeah, had that happen before. I used them 'cause im in a rental place and dont want to go drilling holes. anyhow i used three to hold a speaker to the wall. It last ed about two months, then took the f*ing paint off the wall. i think its time i go and get some paint samples the same as my wall and do some *touching up*.

*sigh*

Had a friend tell me they are great - but you have to be really patient pulling the tab - very, very slowly...????

take the walls out and soak them overnight in warm soapy water. Works every time :)

uhm... yeah but thats a problem with your paint...... not the hook.... the question is if your paint hadnt given way first, would you have been able to pull on the little tab and easily remove the hook...

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link...

Rental properties typically have shithouse quality paint, just as they often have the cheapest possible carpet and other fittings. This is what happens when an estate agent managing the place gets the lowest possible quote.

Further compounding the problem is the fact that rental properties are often painted by airbrush method (it's quicker to apply, so long as you paint the whole place the same beige colour) in which the cheap crap paint gets watered down and sprayed onto the walls.

So when your 3M hooks have only watered down airbrushed no-name cheap crap paint to adhere to, it's hardly surprising that the paint sticks to the self adhesive and rips away from the plaster.

So I dunno if I'd use 'em in a rental property!
