great scanning, and great article as well, wish I had been old enough to go to Bathurst during the 70's, I did see heaps of good racing in the 80's........but not TKA Green Meanies......

Being "slightly" older than Gosling I did get to see "Harry" race at Bathurst several times on both 2 strokes and 4 strokes, the last being on a bike called the KR1000, to watch him ride was the picture of sublime smoothness. When I first started racing short circuit dirt track here at Tivoli Raceway Gregg was still competing and was just as devestating on the dirt as the tar. He was a guy quick to give advice and a helping hand which only helped him gain a god like following amongst us younger guys. Over the following years when i worked for Mayfairs/Brisk Sales Gregg was a regular face at the shop and was an absolute top bloke who always took time to be friendly with everyone regardless of your position be it detailer to sales manager. He always remembered your name and greeted you with it and a big smile.

My greatest memory of Gregg was turning up at lakeside with Murry Sale and Ray Quincy and not getting there in time for qualifying so they started at the back of a very full grid, by the end of the first lap it was TKA Hansford, Sayle, Quincy in a row out in front and absolutley flogging the field...Gregg Hansford was my ultimate hero rider then and still is today...hero worshiping him got me onto Kawasakis and the passion has never ebbed...... RIP "Harry"

One can only imagine how dominating he would have been if he had been able to continue to race bikes.....

Yep 4 sure Hemi but his biggest prob was he was realy to big for 250/350's and the KR500 was crap, breaking his leg was just the end of it.... Kenny Roberts once commented that Hansford was about the fastest guy in a corner he'd ever come accross but slow in a straight line because of his size.

Its a pity Neville Doyle never realy got the bugs ironed out of the Trapazoid 4 cylinder 2 stroke as well for Hansford to race.
