Wattie wrote:these are only slip ons, but what you reckon??

reason i dont want slip ons, is that the stock headers have like like rusty stains on them and go a gold colour with heat, and the new pipes are silver and wont get hot enough to get gold...
and the welds are looking rusty already...

I reckon these look cool....

I think a 4-1 is ok too... but prefer the 4 seperate exhausts....

Formula 1 pipes look the goods
Pic here (warning, its a effing big pic)

I had exactly that pipe on my 750 Zepyr and can vouch for 'em.

Great fit and finish and lasted well. I actually sold the bike with that pipe on it and it hadn't corroded or deteriorated much over the 3 years it was on.

Did tend to scrape as it hung a bit low at the bend (seen in the pic directly below the brake pedal).

My recollection is that it cost me about $600.00 for the complete 4/1 system new. Great value for money. :D :D

The MUZZY single looks the goods but pricey. I reckon any single would look ace.
I am also quite partial to the carbon look, it suits the green well.

~$760 for a full system and pipe is not pricey!

I agree.. the 4-1 looks best imo.. not to mention the 12kg weight saving (so I won't)!

Picked this ZX-9 pipe up from the wreckers ($600), bead blasted it and made a stainless hanger bracket to take care of the longer header pipe.

Sounds and goes great with the PCIII and K&N - 130hp

Keep it up!

I actually love the standard pipes on the bike :D

A lady I know who has one had the baffles removed so it's louder, but I don't want to do that either, I don't mind the bike being quiet :D

Shit this must mean I'm getting old

looks the goods beejay!

what kinda system is that?

Mon Apr 24, 2006 9:29 am

It's Techserfu... out of Japan. Craftsmanship is incredible as are the hydrobends and overall fit - it also cam with a removable baffle (never tried it!). Only issue was clearance of the bottom suspension arm to the header but simply reversing the bolt provided enough space.

Website is http://www.techserfu.co.jp and they seem to have a good range of Kawasaki pipes but the site is in Japanese! :?

Any late model ZX9 4-1 system will fit the thou head and there are heaps of good ones in the wreckers for $500-$700.

Keep it up!

and so you have had it tuned with a power commander?

what changes has it made to the bikes power band compared to the stock sytem?

with 9R's at least, going from the stock system to a full system doesnt really lose much low down power, but certainly gains a good ammount up top ...unlike some bikes that lose heaps down low only for an extra 2 or 3 ponies over a slip on 8)

Yes... got a PCIII from Ivan's Performance Products in the US with his map preloaded. Did the airbox mod and added a K&N filter. The bike ran better than stock initially specially up high but was not good at all below 5,000 rpm.

Put it on the DYNO and is gave around 123hp with this map. After a lot of mods to the map and getting the mixture right it gave just under 130hp. The big benefit was that it revved a lot quicker to redline when the PCIII was tuned correctly. It had shifted the whole time curve vs road speed by over 1/2 of a second!!

On the road it is just brilliant... pulls hard from 2,500 and just rips from above 4,000rpm!!!!! I rode a standard Zed the other day and could not believe how dull it felt in comparison.....

Hope this helps.

Keep it up!

see if you can find a timing advancer for it now, that can make a huge differance again 8) might need a little tuning to suit tho

sounds good tho, must be nearly as fast as a ZX9R now!

Tue Apr 25, 2006 11:36 am

the timing advancer hooks up to the pc3 :)

i think if i could find a zx9 exhaust to fit, i'd have it chopped down, they look so loooong compared to the Z ones

the muzzys 4-1 system to suit a Z1000 looks spot on if you ask me... and could be yours delivered for about $800 8)

Don't know would have to go with the 4 into 1 or even a under seat application.
