Are you building this thing on a flat level surface, or is it going up an incline? If it's on an incline, the simple lay-two-rows-of-bricks-in-the-dirt option is out because the acceleration of your car uphill will do a good job of pushing the bricks back downhill, and the whole thing gradually turns into a mess as the bricks slowly shift out of alignment.

Maybe get yourself one of those DIY books from your local library. They should if nothing else help you establish if you've got the skills and confidence to undertake this yourself.

if its bigger than say 2.5m wide and 8m long
and you want to drive a car on it (which of course you do)
get a pro...a concreter to do it....

Its a PITA digging it out, getting levels, laying the reo
and then calculating how much you need
and then sluicing or barrowing it in, screeding off
followed by a final trowel
also
be prepared to get up early, concrete truck drivers
start deliveries at sun up!

small areas of OK for the unitiated ...with help from a few mates
(its an excuse to drink lots)
but large areas don't bear thinking about

and yes, I have done 'large' concrete jobs in the past , too many
today I pay someone.......!

Yep big ones are worth paying for and it sounds like a new estate so other things to think of are cutting out the kerb with a concrete cutter if you are allowed so you dont have to bang up 6 to 8 inches of kerb for the rest of your life.

Could try ringing a loud bell it might attract the amish.

i did about 17m of concete (yes its the average size of a melb home) for the backyard (yes i still have plenty of grass left). Its not hard but very labour intensive. I had two conceters, my bro, old man and i and it took 2 days. Its very hard work.

The main thing is getting the foundation right and the level, drainage. If it was a shed or something, i would of come and did it for ya, but a drive way needs to be done properly.

mate u can work out an approx price of how much it will cost. if u get me dimension i can tell u an approx price and tell u if they are charging an arm and a leg for labour or not.

In my opinion get a proper concreter.

another thing to consider is do you want coloured concrete or a pattern etc
my advice is get a pro
you and everyone else will see it if it's a bad job
we do small squares at work sometimes but 90% of the time get a concreter in

I paved my driveway, with a little help from my friends. About 80 square metres of it.

Was a pain in the arse.
