Just a smidge of white grease on the BACK of the pads does the job.

never done a rear caliper with pins or an R clip on it

my 9, and I'm pretty sure the 6, has a holding pin at the back of the caliper that goes through holes in the back of the pads to hold em in place - the Rclip goes through a hole in the pin to hold IT in place.
Dunno what an anti-squeal shim is.

im pretty sure the 7 is the same as ty's and my tl was certainly the same

on my 95 zxr 750 it was very easy.
1. Take off plastic cover on bottom on caliper.
2. look under neith caliper. You should see the 2 pins that are holding the pads in as well as the split pins that hold these pins in.
3. Remove split pins.
4 Slid pins out through the hole on the outside of the calliper.
5. Pads should fall out.
To put new ones in pretty much the exact opposite. AFTER you push the piston back into the caliper a little
