Hmmm......can anyone tell me what these safety initatives are??

$430 bucks. Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrkkkk offffffffff!!!
Bikes cauase less congestion, do less damage to the roads, take less parking space and use lees fuel(assuming most people don't car pool to work). Also tend to spend a lot less time on the road.
May be they should look at a pro rata system where you pay 'X' per 5000k or somthing. It would top out once you travelled over 20,000k or something. Will never happen as the government wouldn't get as much revenue.

Safety initiatives, they would be;
- the crappy video that vicroads supllies (which should be part of the licencing process anyway)
- The beutiful speed humps and roundabouts with FUCKING trees in the middle for us to hide behind
- and then there are those fantastic wire fences on the freeways that are safer for cars but slice riders into teeny weeny little bite size pieces.

If they want to jack prices up, just do it rather that feeding us bullshit excusses.

As for safety of riders, why can't they make the minimum safety gear requirements a whole lot tougher. I don't know any sensible rider who goes out without atleast a dryrider on their top half. What good is a helmet if the head thats inside it hasn't got a bloody body to sit on? Can't back it up, but I'm pretty confident that unprotected riders make the bulk of bike accident re-hab cases.
Loosers in t'shirts and even shorts should be made to walk home.
Surely this would be cause to atleast freeze rego prices if not reduce them.

Rant over. sorry guys.

:? my zx7r is only $214 a year to rego as a solo seat.
just looking at the breakdowns of charges for the various states glad to see we're getting taxed (GST) on our road taxes (rego).

btw thanx mexicans for all of your lovely taxes, it makes it a little easier to swallow all of Eddie Maguire's whinging b/s about the Lions!

I understand what CTP is for :)
Take this example... a clown in his habib cage (with 4 of his mates in it) totals it against another car (family of 4) , thats 8 other people that get to claim against CTP - assuming any of them survive.
Your pillion comes off OR you hit another car/bus/truck - how many people is that gonna hurt? Not EIGHT thats for sure - that was my point.

No offense to any actual Habib's out there :)

and Russ
your posts raises the point..about what we are all protesting about

Under our current law of physics
it is simply NOT possible to be in charge of 2 conveyances at once
so why are we charged 2 CTP fees...?
one for the bike, one for the cage?
I have never found a way I can ride the bike and drive the car
AT THE SAME BLOODY TIME...........
so why aren't I charged CTP ..not the vehicle.......?
bloody money grabbing scumbag pollies....

ok
I will calm down now....

cheers

well for me and most vic members its a $1000 + insurance to have 1 bike and 1 car.

i easily pay $2000 for both vehicles with insurance.

If it makes you feel any better, to register a motorcycle in Tassie is $477.40 for 12 months!!!

I thought it would be much the same around Australia but obviously I was wrong. Also, I've looked into the single-seat rego but surprise, surprise ... single-seat rego doesn't exist in Tassie.

We have some of the best motorcycling roads in the world but it's hard to not feel ripped-off that we have the highest rego costs in all of Oz!
