What do you do for a living?

Good one ronster could be worse you could have to talk to the drivers of a 1000 cabs on a 2way using old sayings like its a microphone not a telephone or having to explain that it cuts out after 30 seconds to keep the chat down.

Me not much at the moment but usually a driver of some sort.

Just started as a Test Engineer/Technical Writer at a software company specialising in IP telphony.

Qualified Gas service engineer/plumber and I have my electricians ticket too but I go to BOC gases everyday.........Project Manager looking after the Hospitality industry at the minute

but really I'm only there to make the numbers up for the xmas parties

I'm a Primary teacher by training. Currently teach in a special school for kids with autism, mild intellectual disabilities and behavioural problems.

It's much like talking to motorcyclists.

For the moment my job title is Application Support...which doesn't really give a hint to what I actually do. Part of the job is, funnily enough, looking after a specific set of apps used in the pharmaceutical industry. Part of it is also being a systems administrator looking after remote servers etc to ensure they actually work and we don't lose data. Another big part of the job is almost like a forensic computer investigator - finding lost transactions etc to try and determine where stuff went wrong/whodunnit...

It also involves telling the director who used to do my job how good I am and what problems I've found, asking them to make the occassional decision so they still feel important, and also so they know I can do stuff they can't...

The rest of the job involves sitting on hold listening to the sales pitch of our software supplier while I try and find out where they've hidden the one setting I need to change to allow the days transactions to clear

I work at Holden, building your Commodores, Calais, Statesman, Utes etc.

We build the door shells, boots, bonnets, wheelhouses, pillars, front and rear x-members, dash panels, parts of the floor and a few other bits and bobs.
Everything we build is from raw material, before it all gets painted, and we don't see much of the actual cars untill they roll past our plant on the way to the storage yards.

I'm 28, a Doctor, own my own penthouse and in my spare time I like to absail, scuba dive and mountain climb.....no wait, that's my dating profile......

which means, I pick orders, drive forklifts, don't get paid overtime and wear the shit when things go wrong...........

you work in the stamping plant or the VAP???

I listen to people complain that they are not getting enough petrol... Sometimes I go and check to see if they are right...

Other days I keep an eye out for butchers and the like tht are not giving you the right amount of crap that you have paid for.

Sometimes I check up on technicians that have said they've repaired the weighing and measuring instruments.

Sometimes I check on unscruppulous (is that a word?) traders that try to rip off the poor consumers...

Other days I ride my bike or play golf....

I'm a full time computer science student at rmit (that's 3 of us so far!)
