Using bike stand?

Ok now a word of warning, if you have washed your pride and joy and are heading for the chunky bit on the chain wait till the bike is dry rather than trying to put it on the stand wet as i did once and the back end of the bike was like hanging onto a bar of soap.

*snarf* I chamois dry my bike anyway

I just push the track stand under so the left side is right under the left swing arm and then i stand on the track stand and it comes up.

i got some one to help me first time so i could get the width adjustments right on the track stand but ever since its a one person job.

To let it down i just grap the track stand with my hand and let it down slowly and it just falls slowly onto its own stand.

I just put accouple of peices of wood to bring the bike level (not all the way level, but enough that you can get both sides of the stand under the swingarm

too easy - tip , also leave the peices of wood where you put them to put the bike on the stand, so the side stand has something to go back on thats not so far down

I DID IT!!!!

Got a piece of wood from work today, placed under sidestand "as per "Smitty"" *thanks mate*, and got it up in one go, then walked around and thought how cool it looks, then put her back down, a little quicker than I meant to, but it worked.

you are an experienced hand at it now.......

I just hold onto the Jesus bar straighten the bike and put the stand on

Now if you get one of the front wheel frames that goes under the forks
you'll know all about shitting your pants every time you use it on paved concrete

And I even gave it a quick wash!

This is going to be embaressment, but anyway....

I was pushing my bike off a race stand one day and all seemed to be going fine.

When I went to put it back onto the sidestand, I neglected to check that the stand was fully extended.

It wasn't.

I must have knocked it a bit whilst bringing the bike off the race stand.

So anyway, I placed the weight of the bike onto the not-fully-extended-side-stand. At this point, it started to fall and I wasn't able to stop it from getting past the point of no return.

End result, bent clutch level, gear linkage and scuffed casing. Not the end of the world, but not much fun either.

Be supa careful and don't be a silly fool like me.

i've done the same, but onto the right hand side, was standing next to it and it got away from me. brake lever fine, but scuffed engine cover and put small scuffs on the pipes. no biggy, but majorly pissed off with my 1 week old bike...
