go the KBC.. if you really can't get one i'll try to source one here and post it.

Ideally Shoei, Arai, AGV, but bang for your buck the KBC's are brilliant

Not this again....
In similar fashion to the tyre thread where no one was an expert, so I posted some test results by experts, then everyone who disagreed with the results suddenly became experts. I will do the same and expect the same...

BTW the Nitro that rated 6th is one of there cheapest models.....

Nah Neka, its on hold....haven't parted with the cash yet...hence this thread

Nitro are no longer being bought into Aus because of *issues*

when the current stock runs out from the supplier that's it.

Great post Dave.....I get sick of hearing get a $10 helmet for a $10 head......thats died in the 80's

plasma,
Try a VR2-Legend instead of the assasin, they are 1/3 lighter than the tk-8 and come in assorted colours. I got the 06 model cause they didn't have any 05's left and i love it

I was really happy with my X-Lite X801...

Now i have to replace it and will most likely buy another X-lite X801.

Go with what is comfy...

Shoei TZ-R. Very comfortable, very quiet. Also look at how easy it is to change visors. You don't want to be fiddling about with tools or 10 cent pieces - like with some lids.

yea i like mine too..only negative is its a bit heavy, get a sore neck after a day wearing it (on the bike of course)...but the axo spoilt me i guess...everything else abt it is good (noise, comfort etc)

maybe a suomy or a shoei is next on the list...

Stop being impatient and get the damned assasin :)

Most places can order it in for you, you shouldnt have to wait weeks.... just pay an extra 5 bucks to get it urgent delivered...

BMW make a bluetooth helmet and quietest on the market, not cheap though at around $700 or so I believe without the BT kit.

Noone has mentioned Shark, never owned one personally but heard nothing bad about them. Personally owned an Arai, a Shoei, a Turbo (I was young and broke) and a CMS, will never buy the last one again, think it stands for cheap Mexican shit or words to that effect, shouldn't be AS1698 approved IMO.

It's like everything, you'll get a million different reasons to buy this or not buy that. Really these days there are no "bad" helmets. They all comply with the Aus standard, which is arguably one of the better ones in the world (christ that'll start a debate). I've had Arai's, AGV's, HJC's, KBC's, M2R's, NEX and now a Shoei. I discount the Arai because they are so expensive but I would rate the Shoei,AGV and HJC all pretty close. The paint eventually flaked off the KBC but it was an earlier model so they've no doubt got better.

Stick it on your head and if it feels good your 90% there. I wouldn't buy one that doesn't have the double D rings though (anyhting with a mecahnical coupling can fail and will wear).

So what I'm after is opinions from those who may have tried/owned them....or for that matter anyone who just wants to add their 2c worth.
So roll up, roll up, and let me know what you think.

Plas,

I use two lids currently, (not at once like they do in Tassie).

Arai - Best helmet I've ever had
Shark - Fabulous for the price, quieter than the Arai

Probably prefer the Shark at the moment. Try one on, they are usually a value lid.

Good luck
