Ahhh good one James looks like it might be it.

I bought a Ozito for $40 comes with about 140 bits, I couldn't pay the $140 for the Dremel, good as they are...

I guess I'm going to have to look up old posts on polishing compounds cos I'm a forgetfull old sod.... The Ozito comes with 2 small thingies of polishing paste, time will tell if they are useful.

Let me know if you see any of those chain guard thingies around.

Cheers mate

That pic of the chainguard was taken from eBay. Theres a heap of H1 parts currently on there at a wrecker in Sydney - including the chain guard. $30 buy it now price. Do a search on ZXR750.

Thanks for the info on the Ozito. I'll look into it. :D

Aww come now Nath, you just want a bike to ride when you are over visiting I know.

Seriously though, spent several hours yesterday removing paint from frame yesterday trying different methods..

Paint stripper (didn't work to well)
Rotary tool that was reasonably successful
Copious amounts of sanding with various grades of emery cloth that was good for finishing after the rotary tool, got a real good finish with a metal polish that the name escapes me at the moment.

4" grinder with wire wheel seems good to for roughly smoothing off the cast bumps.

So all in all it will take some time but the polished finish is doable  :D

Might get a pic tomorrow if I get a chance.

Big question is do I polish the swing arm or have it painted?

Cheers

I think a polished arm would look cool... but it might be too much bling.... If you are planning on polishing the rims I would probably do it, but not if you leave the rims painted...

hmmm well..i reckon polished looks great..but it takes sum cleaning....

it looks sweet having polished frame, wheels and swing arm..as well as pegs, rearsets etc.....justas long as ur cleaning it..not me...

hehe hurry up mate, im impatient
