No, because now you've moved to East Bentleigh the road to speed on late at night is East Boundary Road ;-)

(except near Centre Rd, where the cop shop is)

ur right it was stupid.
we all do stupid things and yeah he probably should have booked me.
my story was more to illustrate jason's point that there's more than one way to get someone to stop speeding.

had i been booked my attitude probably woulda been, as it has been other times "damn, i got caught, gotta be on the look-out more"
but instead it was "damn, i was lucky to get off, i won't be that lucky if i do it again"

there's more than one way to skin a cat and the cop recognised i had the intelligence to take notice.

There are several ways you can get stung for speeding and they include:
Laser
Radar
Speed Estimation
Follow and Time

Neka got done by a copper performing a follow and time and coppers are trained in performing this method of speed detection to eliminate all by the slightest in error.

The Police vehicle is placed behind the offending vehicle at a set distance. The copper then maintains this distance and follows the speeding vehicle for a set distance (normally 300m, but may be more, may be less). Provided the copper maintains his distance the speed will be accurate. Police vehicle have calibrated speedos.

If he went to court, at best he's going to get a couple of km/h knocked off. At 20 kays over the limit it's not going to make bugger all difference to the end outcome.

As I've already mentioned, the copper may just be sending the expiation notice out in the post because it was raining. If Neka is really lucky it will just be a caution and the copper is posting it to make him sweat. A very handy trick for teaching people to slow down and often better than whacking them with a fine!

One of the outs in court is to have the calibration record pulled on the cars speedo, often they're not calibrated as often as they should be - and nor are fixed cameras!

As Stereo said, running a red light is stupid, even if you think no-one is coming. Same goes for not using your indicators when you think there's no one around.

It's when you can't see someone that you need to indicate and stop at lights...

Neka if you want your day in court and if it does arrive as a ticket you can still contest it fill out the back or write a letter to the prosacuting officer with your excuse pleading your case, Keep reply and if they dont reply send another letter if you do that and they still take you to court make sure you save some evedence for the judge.Get your speedo gps tested and hopefully its out at least this shows the judge you have spent some time to establish your inosence  on a good day this could get you off or at least some leanency :D Current score mal verses police 2 wins for me and 1 draw :D PS dont wear your green hair or reveal your greeness on any body parts

He who represents themselves in court, has a fool for a client.

Have to agree with Goslings here aardvark, as I also hav represented myself a couple of times. Once for a parking ticket the other for a speeding ticket. both occasions I won. However I think that had more to do with the fact that I was right on both occassions!
