But in all fairness I would own one over any front hook rubbish, although I do hear (from a guy who drove both at the track) that the Integra type R (what a gay name for a car) ran rings around them at the track, apparently it has way better handling and brakes etc.
.
The HUNDA GUY IS FULL OF SHIT!
I have a few magazines here with the WRX, 200SX & Integra Type R in it the WRX is the quickest around the track followed by the SX followed by the HUNDA!
Maybe the Hunda guy was a better driver?
Be like me saying my 636 eats R1's, because of all the R1's I pass @ QR!
The turbo's are always going to be cheaper to get easy hp for less thru extra boost, better airfilter & free flowing exhaust.
I DON'T agree with the hairdressers car label, but EVERYONE has a different opinion & that's yours.
The Japs use the SX ALOT for drifting so they obviously have to be a reasonable handling car with plenty of Potential.
I use to own a 89 Turbo Capri & it use to really shit me that people called them a bag of shit & mention ALL the problems with it, When I asked if they had ever been in one, it was amazing they had never been for a ride in one & ALL there info was from reading stuff or from other ill informed people.
The Capri was a Ford Laser with a different top on it, it handled reasonably well for what it was & in fact was not much different around a racetrack to the same year MX5 which many people consider the best bang for your buck sports car around & that is only the N/A version Capri as the turbo Capri was faster & stock for stock a MX5 was not in the race.
Both cars run the B6 mazda engine which was a very reliable & strong engine, in turbo form it ran piston oil jets like many modern performance engines & in all DOHC forms ran HLA's for the valve actuation.
My Turbo Capri with a few mods ran 14.1@99mph@Willowbank which is by no means fast, but it was more than enough to beat the Gen3 SS that was there running 14.5@95mph.
The Capri was a good car for what it was designed, which was as a cheap convertable.
It's roof leaked & it developed lots of squeaks, but I'm sure most convertable's do that, you cut the top of a car & it loses alot of it's strength that would probably only be solved with a structual roll cage.
So I have owned a Turbo Capri with 124kw@tyres & the GF currently owns a Auto S14A 200sx with 194kw@tyres.
Both cars are considered a Hairdressers car, but both equally fun, both equally expensive with the mods done to them over the years, But both I have ACTUALLY flogged around the place to get a REAL WORLD experience of what they do, don't & can do but shouldn't.
If I could do it all over again, I would not spend as much as I did on the Capri & probably get a 250 road bike earlier so I could do trackdays, but I learnt alot from my turbo Capri years & met a few of my current friends.
BTW the SX is our current tow car, so it is slightly practical but for only (2) people, we have tried (3) for the Darlington Park trackday & it was not comfortable for the person sitting in the back. It tows (2) bikes no drama's & would probably still run a low 15 second quarter mile with the bikes on.
