Where for kiddies to ride dirtbikes in Brisbane....?

Postby HemiDuty » Tue Jan 31, 2006 10:34 pm

I have no idea how to go about finding out where to take the kids to ride their new quadbike. I live on the Northside of Brisbane, so somewhere close would be nice. I have heard of a couple of motocross parks or whatever they are on the southside (Blackduck and Tivoli spring to mind), but would prefer something closer. They aren't sick of going down the street to the park yet, but I am sure some of the local residents are!!!

EDIT: Decided to at least spell the subject line correctly.....

Not sure about Qld but in NSW you can't ride a quad in most of the motocross parks that I've been to, which means you're restricted to private property. Occasionally you see the tiny ones out at Pacific Park but I think they've banned them now as well.

Grab a copy of ADB (Australasian Dirt Bike) they usually have riding parks advertised towards the back.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I know it's not on the northside but there's a MX track in Oxley, beside the Harvey Norman there...

It's actually a club so I dunno if you can just go there and ride...

Thanks for the replies there guys, will check out some of the options suggested.

I did not realise that quads were frowned upon at MX tracks. What a bugger.

Hemi, suggest you get in touch with Motorcycling Australia, they're "supposed" to be the mob that does this sort of shit and indeed even get federal funding for it (I believe).

It's an issue the MRA in Vic runs up against constantly. My kid is not 18 but wants to learn to ride, what are his options? Realistically, not a shitload alas and it's something that needs to be sorted badly, nationwide.
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
