Hyper optic visor insert

Sun Jan 29, 2006 2:55 am

I bought a Fog City Hyper optic visor insert about a month ago
they stick to the inside of a clear visor and change color from a very light green to a cobalt blue depending on the sun

well i've being on several rides with it now
and think it was worth every cent i paid for it

in sun/shade conditions it works a treat ...... 100X better than the iridium visor i have cant see the (damp spots with the iridium )

in bright sun it cuts uv and bright light
and lastly in the rain ..... got caught in a down pour today (not normal in Melb hehe) and normally in these type of conditions my visor would fog badly ........ rode and hour in heavy rain, Leaters wet through but insert didnt fog .... the slight egde around the insert did but rest was as clear as

all in all i would recommend this product at about $45 its great

does the insert cover up most of the opening on the helmet?

I was thinking it'd be a bugger if you were riding into the sun and there was this thin line of unfiltered sun blasting through above the filter...

Then again, I guess it'd be no different to wearing a clear visor and wearing wrap-around sunnies. (Except without the hassle of sunnies fogging up as well as your helmet!)

great idea. if i go out and know i will be out after dark i put my clear visor on and then i have to wear sunnies. think i will get one of those..

I have had one on my Arai Visor for about a year, and agree entirely. They are pretty damn good!

If you want one try Ian at twperformance.com.au :)

Mate when i took the pic today the sun was behind the clouds
but will try and get one tinted

And john covers most of mine .......... had to adjust around a couple of times to get it right
if i put it up higher it hits when opening the visor will run a bit of black tape above it
but cant really fault it so far
I use to carry the clear visor in the jacket under my arm for night ridding
...... but couldnt stop it foging up

I liked mine until strika liked his! ;)

Nah all joking aside, totally agree, they rock, I have one and have had it on for a year or so too. I still prefer my iridium visor on sunny days, however, in the winter, night, cold, rain, hmmm anytime other than blazing sun they are damn good!

hmmm, it gets somewhere between a light and dark tint although nowhere near a dark tint.

see attached pix, these were in spring, so it goes slightly darker than this in the full on summer sun :)

Yeah my sentiments exactly Swabio! Nice to agree on something isnt it!

They do there best work in winter though. I have raced on a cold misty day with one, and even at lap 4 when my tired older lungs are at redline, I only got A tiny bit of fog, in the bottom of the visor about the size of a 5c piece. So I was pretty impressed to say the least as I used to have to tape open the visor slightly to keep it clear!

Here it is in action! 8)

Has anyone had the half-on/half-off yet? Where the sun is coming in from the side and one half is dark while the other is light? I had it a couple of times with my old one and it was kinda weird :?
