Buying parts in Briso?

Fri Jan 27, 2006 6:47 am

I need to get some parts, brake pads, oil, that sort of thing, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on where to get them around brisbane without getting "ripped off" too much and without a delay of 3 days. I have been shopping several times already, to various bikeshops like Whales, Bayside kwaka and moorooka yamaha and half the time the bit I want has to be "brought in" from somewhere. Also, do you haggle the price with the shops? I get deals nearly everywhere except woolies when I buy other stuff but for some reason I haven't hassled the bikeshop people for a discount. "Probably afraid they'll put iron filings in my oil

thanks for the tips 8) I found one from the list above that gave me a good discount, I got a K&N filter, a recharger kit for it, two sets of sintered brake pads and a fuel filter for just a spot over $200. :D

You can give Mick a ring at Goodna a ring on 38181208. He's cheap and has a fair range but he has a few funny ideas. I buy Motul oil and tyres there cheaper than just about anywhere else. If you're buying tyres though, don't let him talk you into a shinko. He talked me into a shinko for the back and I'm still not sure about it. It seems to grip all right but I keep thinking about how cheap it is. For some reason the term 'Cheap and nasty' keeps popping onto my head.

If it grips OK for your style of riding, then it will be fine. You will know when you start to outride the tyre, believe me......and if you are on a budget, then Shinko's are pretty hard to go past........

My local tyre guru has often said to me that the worst tyres sold, are still better than what 95% of the riders out there are capable of doing.........

Tyre choice is so subjective, whats good for you might feel like shit to someone else, etc etc ad infinitum. All you can do is try a few different brands over time, and settle with what suits your riding and your budget best.

Funny that. Most of how anything feels is in your head. It can be the best tyres/bike/sexual encounter you have ever had. But if the big grey thing in your skull says it's crap, then it's crap. My brain pisses me off sometime, thinks it knows everything :D

My brain tells me that you can have a great sexual experience on any type of bike, as long as it has tyres. Is that wrong?

Thanks
