No it wouldnt...

You can have wireless dialup... You just need an SLR incrobot with bi-linear portoscopic relay and a flux capasiter to relay your R.A.P.T bit packets to the local telco... Do you have on of those? Ask for one at Dick Smith

1) get a router that can do ppp dialup backup & has a wifi access point, or
just a plain pc with internet sharing enabled.

2) make sure the router has a wifi access point on it, or plug in a wifi access point module to the router / pc via cat5 cable (about $120 from dick smiths or harvey norman, (they are a little grey box with a green and a yellow light and a dicky little antennae). OrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR use a wifi pci/usb/pcmcia card on the pc and just set the cards to run in "ad hoc" mode.

remember, always set a encryption key at the least!

I have my router and am trying to install it...have done everything correctly as far as I can see and each time it gets to the final part of the setup CD, it tells me there is an error with my IP address and I have to go back to the start again! I have done this about four times already!

What could be causing this? Does anyone want to help a damsel in distress (lol) some time this weekend?? PM me if you can help (I'll provide the beer!)...I am in the southern suburbs.

Would offer assistance Colette but i'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, suggest look at something called a dhcp server should be somewhere in your settings, make sure that's enabled.

Does anyone have any experience using a wireless router? Do they work well and if so, which ones are better? Am thinking of getting one.

It says there is a prblem with my IP address and it doesn't complete the final sequence. *shrug*

I've been routered a few times tonight...

It's all Greg's fault... I wish they could do my wireless...

Personally I avoid DLink from my experience at primus.
LinkSys is my preference.. Cisco owned cheaper brand.

I am with you Dan, I dislike D-Link, although I am still using my dlink-302G modem it is connected to a Linksys router, and that router rox, full SPI firewall and all the good crap!

All i did with my dlink is create a pass through rule so now the router does all the good shit
