So yeah.... im busy building a house... and I am really hating work at the moment... both of my jobs actually...

My life currently seems to be a blur of work that I hate, unhealthy food, crap TV and millions of little things that are just bringing me down...

At the moment I wake up in the morning, already feeling this feeling in my stomach ... like a sinking feeling.... and all the little things that happen throughout the day make me feel worse... until finally I get to go home... and I get about 4 hours of worrying about finances before I get to have a crappy sleep....

I am stressed out to the max......

What do you do in a situation like this?
All the usual things arent working.......

First question: You have a woman? :)

Life can be depressing at times but what you have to focus on is the good things on your schedule. Look forward to the weekends where you can get out, spend $20 and have a few hours' worth of riding through some hills.

Don't focus on the bad things, of course that's going to bring you down - your job is the means to an end: a better bike, a bigger TV, a nicer house, a holiday.. the good things :) Sometimes I guess it's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, but remember to stay focused on everything you do at every given moment instead of worrying about the other things that may be getting you down (hence taking your attention away from your current task). When you get to the end of the day you'll find that you'll remember more and there will be less negativity in your demeanour generally

It's so easy to get depressed by financial matters because they basically control how much fun you can have in life... just take pride in everything you do during the day and do it to your fullest ability and you won't be able to leave at the end of the day without some satisfaction and a smile on your face :)

That ends your session, please talk to the receptionist in regards to payment.
Listening to you is like being bukkaked with stupid.

Yes, I have a woman... a bloody good one........ But I think she is feeling the same way, so I dont want to talk to her about it because I dont want to make her feel worse....

That said... she reads this forum on a regular basis.... so she might read this anyway... hahaha

*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

I am about an hour away from finishing at one job... then i have to go to the other one......

don't worry about it stereo. Life is made up of highs and lows and you can't avoid feeling down sometimes. It can last an hour, a day or weeks sometimes. It all balances out in the end. Consider yourself lucky to have a cool bike :P

You can't be happy all the time. They have places for people like that.

I feel for you,
I can't offer you much advice about work, except you hate them both but cos of the house building you cant ditch one, so basically stop stressing over them as you know that you're there only for the money and you'd jack it in if you had the option. So why stress about it? You can't please everybody so settle for pleasing half of them the other half can get farked.
When Mike gets home I ask "how did work go?" and he replys "It happened" then thats out of the way and we can get on with the evening, and forget about it.

The house is not worth stressing over, in a couple of weeks it'll be done and you'll be moved in. why give yourself a heart attack over what the builders are f*cking up, its their problem to sort. The driveway is easy, put it off as long as you can and lie to the real estate people, say you've been let down by a company and this other one can't fit you in just yet.
The same for other things like grass and stuff.

Come round to my place and I'll cook you and Steph something healthy!

Crap TV is something I unfortunately can't control. wish I could, thats why I read so much, always a good book out there. Alternatively cuddle up with Steph as she is probably as stressed as you are, get a coffee and chat about so-and-so back in NZ, do you remember that time......ha ha ha.

As for worrying about finances, that'll be better once your moved into your new house and your not paying a mortgage and rent at the same time, in the meantime cut down on expenses, get frozen pizza from supermarket rather than Pizza Hut. Do ONE shop a week, get EVERYTHING you need for the week. ON NO TERMS go to the shop to get something you ran out of, cos you wont just buy that carton of milk, you'll end up spending $30 instead of the $2 you were going to spend.

It'll all come good in the end, a couple more weeks and you'll be better off, no rent to pay so you could cut down on the hours.
Hang in there mate.

After we built our first place and money was tight I used to spend plenty of time worrying about how I was going to get over financial hurdles etc, and then we had kids as well and work and everything else.

I used to spend most Saturday nights "destressing" with some close mates, my missus, my kids and my close personal friend James Beam and a couple of guitars. Now I'm not advocating binge drinking but I tell you what doing something totally opposite to the rest of your week at least gives you a break and sometimes helps put things in perspective. At the end of the day your healthy, you've got your partner, kids, mates, a bike in the garage hopefully. We got through it and this was when interest rates were cracking 17.5%.

When I built the second place (The El Rancho Costa Plenty) I thought I was overextending (which in hindsight I wasn't) but I approached it totally differently. My view second time round was that if it went pear shaped I'd punt the house piss off the mortgage and rent for a while (we rented while we built and it wasn't a bad time let me tell you). I would still have all the good stuff in my life just not the debt. Fortunately we've been cool so far.

It's easier said then done mate but try not to worry and have a plan B. The things that are really important you won't lose.

Oh and if all else fails, go for a ride and get pissed when you get home.

Cheers

mate..im going thru it too, but ur one up on me, u still got ur bike...

heres how u can feel better..laugh at sum1 who is less fortunate that u..in this case..ME...not only do i ride a honda (issue 1) but its off the road (issue 2) so i cant get my relief....ive just set up a new house with my gf which has cost me $$ (issue 3), my visa is maxed (issue 4), i had to drop Foxtel (issue 5), missed the SBK (issue 6) and until 2 weeks ago was supporting me and my mrs who wasnt working (issue 7). On top of this the last 5 weeks ive been working 6-7 days a week (often sundays -issue 8) cos i need the cash....

so..as i say..laugh at sum1 else, its amazing how much that helps..or get it on with ur mrs (that helps too)...do sum excersise , it releases pheromones & endorphins & makes u feel heaps better- i go to gym 2 times a week, and ride my pushy to work every 2nd day (8km round trip)....

ive already lost 2kg, and started feeling better for it...
or u could hit the piss....i find getting away from my routine helped heaps..i use to go out every fri/sat nite on the bike, now i go see mates, or do sumthin with the mrs..u dont have to spend 2 much $$ and u can still have fun, and break the monotony...that seems to be the killer..boredom...

shit..i didnt mean this to end up a bloody lecture....good luck with it mate...

oh..the other option is hurt sum1..that always makes ppl laugh...

Many males go through a depressive state, and this is something not to be taken lightly.

Recently I went through 2 months feeling like shit cos some little girl got killed by a car accident.

I looked up on the web about depression and one of the ways to help overcome this problem is by exercising, whether it be going for a walk, jog or going to a gym. I tried this method of walking and thinking about pleasant things, and hey, I am OK.

The other thing to do is BE A MAN. If you need help, ask. Cos the worst outcome is it will override you and you will start thinking dark thoughts.

This can have tragic results such as suicide. It iis said that Male Depression Suicide will be 2nd only to Heart Disease related deaths by 2020..

And don't drink too much, as alcohol is a depressive.....

It sounds tacky but it works....

When you get up in the morning, think of one thing you're happy about. No matter how bad it gets there's also something to be happy about even if it's seems small.

Before you go to sleep ask yourself 'what am I most proud of having done today?'

As I said it sounds tacky, and there are other 'life-focus' questions to ask (I just can't think of them right now), but it does help bring the positive things into more focus.
