All we've seen of Hayne yet is in training camp though so he's not up against any serious opposition. If he gets a start the stats will tell the tale. Lynch has an impressive record, they don't come much better really. Hayne is still at College level so he's got a lot to do.

Well I will eat my words to some extent. Hayne had a reasonable debut against the Texans today in the first round of the preseason. He only got two runs but one was a 38 yarder and he looked OK. He got picked off in his second run and he needs to get used to running head down but he went OK. The 49ers are going to do it tough this year because they've lost their coach (Jim Harbaugh) and a heap of players but they've got a good QB in Kaepernick. Hayne might just do OK. Be good to see an Aussie do OK other than as a punter.

Yep its a good service and relatively cheap. Should be a good season. I've been following the 49ers and the Bengals for a few years now but I don't think it's going to be a great year for either unfortunately. Green Bay could be the ones to watch if Aaron Rodgers stays fit.

All on the Hayne Plane!!!

Loved waiting for the highlights from each pre season game, and he delivered every chance he got. I haven't been this interested in a sports story for years!!

The test comes from now on. He has to make it into the 46 each week and he's playing against first teams not preseason 2nds and 3rd's. I hope he goes well because it will be good for everyone I reckon. He's got some work to do to knock of the No1 guys though who you have to remember probably only got one game in the preseason. eg Bruce Ellington got 3 Punt returns (made an average of about 14 yards but scored a touchdown in the process).

Anyone still following this. If you're watching it he's having serious issues playing against first teams. Still showing some potential and they have stuck with him but if you watch him on the field he is struggling knowing what to do. Unfortunately had a major fail in defence this week and let Kaepernick get sacked. His fumbles have been when he's getting pressured and the opposition are putting him under pressure. This is where the really good guys stand out and unfortunately I don't think he's up to it.

Seahawks this week will be interesting as they were his other option.

On another note.......go the Bengals 6.0. Andy Dalton you legend!!!!!!.....until the playoffs

I think they haven't been giving him much of a chance. Apart from a couple of mistakes which are fair enough he's done fine with the chances they've given him. He moves amazingly and it fast and strong, also he's holding his spot playing in the 49ers 6 months into playing the sport so I think he's doing amazingly and could still be great!!

They've given him a heap of chances given his inexperience. The fact is it's the most competitive comp in the world of sport and you don't get a lot of chances as a rookie unless your exceptional. If they stick with him he'll gradually get more time as he gets better. The problem is they have some good players in the positions he's suited to so he really has to be exceptional to make it.
