Regrets... Part of middle age I guess.

Bugger. Everything I want now and did in the past are ridiculously expensive....
Could have made a squillion with forethought and cash. (never had the cash anyway.)
One of my dream bikes has always been a RG500. Rode two of them and they never fail to scare the shit out of me. Second one I rode was for sale at a dealer about 7 years ago for $3k. Took it around the block and did a HUGE unintentional wheelie- took it straight back. Had about $3k to my name at the time but should have bought it regardless.
Forward to now where I might have a chance to buy a similarly priced bike and they now sell for around $16-20k...There is one on ebay now for $55k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brand new, unstarted. They were $5000 BRAND NEW in 85. :(

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Suzuki-RG-50 ... 4d15c5ac63

Always wanted an FJ Holden. Awesome ones twenty years ago when I left school could be bought for around $5k. Now, $20k up.

Mk1 Cortinas. Couldn't give them away. $10k up. One for sale here at the mo for $87k. (genuine Lotus)

Kinda liked Monaros HK-HG. WAY out of reach. Bolwell Nagari. Giocottalo. Britten V1000. I must aim to high coz these are all rich boys toys now. :(

Think I might hang on to my 95 Fairlane. Might be worth something one day. HR ute same story. ZRX x 2. Fibro shack might become collectable once I pay it off.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Was talking to a guy I know the other day who owns a car museum. (with some really great cars in it) He knows someone who got married years ago and owned a genuine XY GTHO when he got married, which then was worth next to nothing. He recently went to get divorced and the GT is worth more than his share in his house so had to sell it or the house to settle the divorce.

Me and my mates cut up an FB Holden and a HK Monaro when we were youngsters to get rid of them for scrap  From memory we got about $100 for each of them and cartons of Tooheys New were about $16 so 12.5 cartons worth. I think that means I should be able to buy them back in similar condition for about $625 now :)

I've currently got my sons immaculate, stock looking but crazily worked VYSS in the garage and it's worth bugger all. I constantly agonise about whether I should buy it off him and hang on to it, so he can have it back one day.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

When I was a teenager I wanted an XY GYHO. Had no chance of affording one, but would have been good to grab one for sure, close to 20 times the price what they were then. Funny thing is though went on a ride with an original red one worth the full half a mill or whatever, the guy said it handles like a dog. Didn't stop him doing a burn out up the road on DD's weekend

I regret getting rid of my fiat 124 sports. Most fun I've ever had in a car! The sound and feeling was so exciting. I had the car, another full car stripped and prepped to be be built, 2 spare engines and 1-2 cars worth of spares. Sold it all to my cousin for $500 and it's all since gone, things just kept going wrong with it what a pain in the ass, but I'd have it all back at the drop of a hat now.

Yep we all have stuff we should have kept or not smashed. 1965 XP falcon 4 door immaculate till I tipped it on its roof. 1964 XM 2 door falcon, yep immaculate till I bent the chassis and sold the rear end to a panel beater. 1967 XR falcon, 1968 Fairlaine, HR Holden wagon. Honda 450 twins had 3 of them. 750 Suzuki water bottle, Honda 750 K2.and probably some others that I have forgotten. At least 1 kept the old z900 so one out of 10 isn't so bad is it ????. ;)

1973 - bought a new LJ 2 door Torana S 202 4 speed same specs as GTR.

Loved it and would love to have one now but remember these old 'treasures'
had dipper switch on the floor, no air con etc etc.

But at least if it broke down all you had to do was find out what was missing....fuel or spark. 8)

My dad had a 67 fastback Mustang and sold it one year before I could drive... how's that for bad timing?

I had.. .. and later sold a genuine HT GTS Bathurst 350 Monaro (which had some ummmm.. mods by a bloke called Firth  ) I had a ball with it for about 3 years in the late 70s, used to visit
Moorabbin airport on Saturday nights for some fuel supplies ;)

Image

The selling price for the Munro was $4 large as a trade on a then newish LJ XU1 Torrie

I cry myself to sleep at nights over both those... (I can't afford the $200k to buy them back :( )

I also lusted after a V8 Bolwell Nagari and started saving for the 'kit' .. got all the brochures parts lists and kit build instructions
then got married (1st time) and of course bought a house. The Bolwell became a dream....
still have all the paperwork for it ( at least i have been offered decent money for them but sitting on them for a rainy day)
