Termites..

Postby vanrootn » Sun Dec 16, 2012 10:19 pm

I am looking at getting treatment done to my house. Found some of the little bastards in the back yard and our house has been chemmically treated at some stage around 7 years ago (found a treatment thing in the meter box)

Anybody have any recommendations re: the best chemicals to use or any good company they have used before?

Thanks - Pete :)

Petrol and a lighter tends to get rid of them.

Don't let these little bastards get any where near your house.
I was unlucky enough to find some in my window frame...they ate the whole fuggin thing out before I realized they were in there.

Employed the services of a recommended pest controller only to find out after 6 months they were still in there.
After frantically trying to contact him...was told he was no longer operating.

Managed to get my hands on some good old "DDT" which is no longer available and taught the pricks a lesson. :kuda:

We use Enviropest who seem to do a fair job. Because we have our house surrounded by concrete we had to have the barrier redone by drilling holes around the perimeter. Cost a bob but it's worth it I reckon. The joint next door had their front porch chewed to smithereens by the little bastards when the house was about 7 years old

yeah i got mnie done after the were swarming in the area, had a whole heap fly into the house and had their wings all around the outside of the house
they applied spray in treatment all around perimeter and drilled into the concrete driveway and injected the chemical till it came out the expansion joint between drive and house. Had to lift the first row of pavers from our patio and they injected and sprayed there also.

cost was $1500, meant to be $1800 but i helped out by predrilling the slab lifting the pavers and digging a little trench around the rest of the house for treatment to soak in. I also layed the pavers back so i got the price down a bit :D

treatment has a 10 year reccommended renewal, 20 years if you like to gamble. but over 10 years its $150 a year, cheap insurance if you ask me :kuda: :kuda:

Got a couple of quotes. one treatment lasts 5 years and costs$1800 and the other lasts 10 and costs $1600

Guess which one I will choose haha

Yea sweet :) seems like good prices. Is it spray treatment or is it baited treatment?

Spray treatment, which is my preference any way. Less ongoing cost and we don't know how well a baiting system would work on a stumped house!

The company is called lawlors an sa based company, I will report back when it's done if anyone is interested :-)

Did you get it done? I just remembered I have a pest control contact who charges a bucket load less than the bigger companies.

Steve Lepoidevin from Suburban Pest Control. Ph: 0418 802 803.

He did a pest inspection at one of my rental properties and was recommended to me by the guy I use to do building inspections. He was half the price of places like Murray's etc.
