RIP Solitary Man

Strika's cousin and buddy of 9 years Soli (Kennel name blah blah blah Solitary Man) went to sleep for the last time this morning. Unfortunately, he was born with his mothers genes, which included a likelyhood of ending up with Dialated Cardio Myopothy (Enlarged Heart). He was really struggling to breath, with his little heart growing big enough to reduce his lung movement and ability to take air in. Rather than watch him deteriorate like his mum did, we made the hard decision. Last night he had his favourite dinner, slept on my bed with Tatyana and I. Then this morning, Soli, Strika and I went for a walk on the beach and chased his last bird....all be it slowly :( .He went into the vet this morning at 11.00 and went to sleep in my arms at 11.15, with his ear being rubbed.

Shit, sorry for you strika.
It's bizzare how the world works :?
My Bro just rang to tell me our Aunty just died this morning after a short battle with lung and brain cancer.
Your story just brought out what I've been holding in
Not trying to steal your moment, just letting you know that your not alone with your grief

I'm so sorry Strika  They give so much and ask so little in return, don't they
Good on you for giving him the gift of looking after him in the best way you could. He couldn't ask for more.
I'm not sure who said this, but it has stuck with me: "Who must do the hard things? He who can"

He'll be breathing much easier when you next meet him at the Rainbow Bridge :goodman:

Mate,
My condolences...been there and done that a couple of times so I know how you feel.
They give unconditional love and just ask for few pats and bone.

Hope you kept his ashes to spread out in the yard or his favourite spot.

Take it easy.
