So, the reason guys measure themselves in inches is because they REALLY don't know how much 8 inches is? :D

i agree Pete, the imperial system should be made illegal. I mean how big is an 8 pound baby. How heavy is it to pick up. If you said 3.5kg then i'd know it weighed as much as 3.5 litres of water. I have never understood weighing babies in a scale they will never understand.

My mum has a cook book that she bought from before I was born, it was put out by a flour company in the UK called Be-Ro. Everything is in pounds and ounces, which is fine as this was 1963-4 but the oven settings are either crap like 'hot' or 'moderate' or 'gas mark 3', no numbers, not even the old fahrenheit. She loves the book, it has good-old fashioned stuff like proper scone recipes etc, but wtf is with the heat settings? And while we're at it why did they start a heat scale that starts at 32 where water freezes and 212 where water boils? WTF where they thinking? They may as well have used degrees Kelvin.

You can still see remnant crap like that all over the place. My dad makes his own wine in demi-johns. I presume they are an old measurement, no idea what they are (a half-john, like a demi-god?). I could look them up on Wikipedia, but honestly there is only so much useless shit my head will handle.

I live near a road called Three-Chain Road. I know for a fact that the road is approx 30-40km long, so Chains are either remarkably long or they were a bit loose with the road naming. Actually, I made that last bit up, I believe a chain is something odd like 22 yards and is also the length of something like a cricket wicket. So I could also get by calling the road 3-Wicket Road or 'The 66 Yard Road That Lasts 35 kilometres'...but I'm guessing the road signs would be prohibitively long .

My inlaws live on Three Chain Rd. No chains there!

Bigger than a 7 pound baby. I can easily visualise the size of babies when the birth weight is goven in pounds, but struggle when its in kilos.

+1. I nearly hit a group of them (i think a group is called a wank? or maybe a latte?) this morning in thick fog. the fuckers take up the whole road like they own it, and they always choose to ride on the best windy bits. :x they should make it law that motorbike riders are allowed to kick them whenever we go past
