Criminal(apparently probably not) Opportunists, PUNKS!

Lunchtime friday I was getting off my bike in castle hill. Van pulls up next to me with 2 guys:
"Hey, do you want to buy a full Yamaha home theatre system? Brand new, worth $6000, for $1000, gotta take it now."

I looked in the back of the filthy van, full of new yamaha AV boxes.

I thought I'd test 'em out:
"You Got a card, I'll give you a call I don't need one but a mate might"
"Nah man, gotta take it now"
"I'm fine thanks, cya later" and I walked away, they drove off.

I'm thinking

"Should I call the cops with their number plate (didn't because I'm obviously at my work and they might put 2 and 2 together)" and
"did they approach me instead of the other people around because I'm on a bike so I'm more likely to be open to the idea".

Just thought I'd share it, 100% stolen I'd say.

Rang the Coppa's on these Knobswallowers after they tried that shit on me a couple of years ago.
Turned out to be Legal in that case but it wasn't Yamaha stuff.
Probably Yamaha ripoff shit from Bali anyway.

Yeah i know about the plate, but because of the situation I still think I did the right thing for my safety.

When I asked for their card to test 'em out they both changed their mood, stared me down and got aggressive, so I was intimidated because they knew I suspected them.... :? I was, after all standing out the front of my work.

This is most likely the same ligitimate business as spoken of before. This company, the name of which I don't know, usually employs backpackers to drive around in vans with electrical gear. They pull up at lights and proposition drivers in traffic and people on the footpath. I've had it done and seen others pull over with them to check the stuff out. They are everwhere, even down here in Melbourne.

They have been doing that for years.
I remember when I was living in manly in the early 90's A couple of guys pulled me up in Brookvale & had the same offer..
I wonder if its the same system????
It had a fully sick twin tape deck back then.

this sounds familiar.
There were dodgy romanians selling badgeless powertools & hardware as "top of the line" gear and offloading absolute shit earlier this year throughout Australia (i heard of them in Perth, Melb & Sydney).

that reminds me, neighbour gave me a pair of 6x9's for helping him set up an ebay account. I think i might get the multimeter out as they're an "imported" brand i've never heard of before.

Personal Safety is number 1!

I once saw two gusy chasing another with a gun whilst doing security on a hospitality site in brisbane

I didnt call the cops becasue these guys new i saw them, and knew where i worked.

i jsut took my dog inside the resturaunt and watched from a far, the guys returned to their car in the end with no shots fired

Could have turned bad, but i still stand by what i did.

it was no buisness of mine and wasnt hapening on my site.

It's a known business model. They count on people wanting cheap deals (legal or not). But in fact the goods are legit .... only then overpriced.

Do a google on "DynaLabs" speakers. They were the "pioneers" I think..

Personally I wouldnt buy anything that "has to be bought now". Except rolex wathces
