It's a shame

Postby mike-s » Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:23 pm

we're such a litigious society that a school has attempted to try to ban HAND STANDS and CARTWHEELS by students when not doing sport class. Fortunately Sanity prevailed, but seriously wtf is it saying about our society?

i remember when i was a kid

jumping on the pushy and going to my mates place then going for a ride down to the local bike track.

or getting the skateboard and going down to the local shops to practice rail slides and ollys and shit.

or getting the communal billy cart out and all the kids in the street having a go down the big hill.

The problem is this.....!!!!

its called nintendo ds, sony plastation, Xbox 360. etc etc.

kids just dont get out and play like kids should, hence why they carnt handle the physical activities like we used to as kids thus getting injured more
and the school beeing liable for the childrens welfare.

maybe thats why they are trying to ban these sort of activities at schools.

just my spin on things .

Spot on I reckon!!! Do an english test when you first apply for citizenship, do one again 5 years later, if you haven't improved then you really aren't trying to assimilate so fark off back from whence you came.

My parents came from Holland in 1952 odd, when they came here there was no phone interpreters and english language classes or any of that shit you get now, my mum speaks perfect english as she had no choice but to learn it, newspaers all in english, radio was in english, tv when we eventually got it was in english etc.
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Funny you say that Gazza- I was just thinking when I saw this about what it was like when I was a kid (starting to sound like my Grandma  ).....

My brother and I played in the dirt and made roads for the Matchbox cars. We stayed out from when we got up until the sun went down (that was time to go home.) We got more scratches and bruises than most kids get in a lifetime (for a variety of reasons.) Looking back on it now and reading this stuff I wonder how we survived. But we did and the memories of the adventures are great. Shame the way the world is going.....

Kiss slowly,
Love truely,
Laugh uncontrollably,
And NEVER regret anything that made you smile.'

id come home from primary shcool at least twice a week with a new scab on an elbow or a knee... not because the school grounds were faulty... but because i was a 5-9yr old who ran around a did stuff!!! its what happens!!!

i can remember when the council took away a big old wooden car down at the park close to my house... it was such a bummer i loved that car!!! but of course it was made of steel tubing and big planks of wood, so u might hurt yourself!!!

but quite frankly if your a parent and you let your kid play on any equipment you should automatically absolve yourself of any right to sue anybody!!!

on the upside however it means playground designers have lots of business deisgning, new, safe playgrounds...

another upside is that a park near me that used to have a BMW track (even with big starting hill and everything!!) now has 2 fantastic playgrounds one of which has a 30m flying fox!!! and u even have to fall on bark chips!!! fark me could be dangerous!!!!

i dont think alls bad in the world, just most of it....
