The latest crackdown on binge drinking could see popular alcohol promotions like cheap drinks and shooters, banned from pubs and clubs.
The new guidelines introduced by the Office of Liquor and Gaming would give director Albert Gardiner the power to cancel promotions that encourage binge drinking.
Unacceptable practices that include toss the boss, all you can drink, free drinks for ladies and extended happy hours.
Mr Gardiner says the focus is on protecting the community by reducing alcohol levels, binge drinking and violence.
But the Australian Hotels Association says licensees should be entitled to make their own responsible decisions on drink promotions.
