Postby Wattie » Sat Jul 05, 2008 10:16 am

they are worms... :?

just got my insurance renewal for home and contents.

$1096 for my joint and all my crap.

thought i should shop around, GIO did it online for
$652

thats pretty huuge saving. so i rang shannons to check, and he said "we dont match prices, we thing our policy is pretty good."

also told me how i get 10000 bucks enthusiast cover. but somehow because im under 25 and ride more than 1 time per week im not an entusiast.

f@$k em. turd burgers.

i'll probably try again when im 25, just because im a sucker for punishment

Wattie, for what it's worth my mate is 56 has had no claims rang shannons and because he rides only once per week and was not in a bike club or group they classed him as not an enthusiast and would not insure him at all.

go figure

I'll second that. They won't insure me because I'm too high a risk- never had an at-fault accident in 18 years of driving, but three accidents last year when others failed to give way to my school car. Rude bastards about it too. Went on and on about whether not they could qualify me as an "enthusiast..." Wankers.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Really why are they wankers? They offer insurance to a select market and those who fit their criterior are offered a more competitve insurance package, whether that be better premiums or higher agreed value etc. If they were straight up and said we believe that because you are under 25 you are a higher risk and your insurance premium will be 'x' thousand dollars (like suncorp do) would that be better or worse? Instead they dont insult us by offering rediculously inflated premiums. Insurance is all about risk. The less of a risk you are to them the better insurance package you will get. And no I'm not insured with Shannons, they wouldnt insure my bike if my missus was riding it. Was I pissed about it?..... no, I just rang others to see what the best package I could get was.

hmmm...

I have no complaints with them
When i bought the 12 and got QBE to quote (the GPx had been with them)...QBE $1400
so rang around and Shannon quoted $550...great

then when the SS came up for renewal with AAMI ..I got shannons to quote again
AAMI $1100...shannons $900 (RACV wouldnt touch it coz the mods  )
so
I reckon I am doing OK (and a few years later I am still with them)

and a few months when an idiot cut the corner and partially removed the FR corner
of the SS, it was assessed and repairs OK'd at MY choice of repairer...in 3 days

Mate Shannons has this thing with commuting on your bike every day. I'm aloud 3 times a week or trips away, not work and back.
I'm also over 30 and have had no fines or accidents in over 10 years. I also ride a 900cc not 1000cc, and the
9 is a sports tourer not a sports bike, so I'm not in the high risk category. Once you get over the 25-30 mark
they look at you as a more responsible motorist :o  . Other insurance mobs still give great deals so do some homework.
Shannons is a good insurer so don't bag what you can't have till you get older. ;)
I get a good price from Shannons for the 9. :D

Yeah they're just making money the best way they can. It's standard practices for renewals to go up heaps, they all do it. As for the enthusiast crap they wouldn't quote me on Janelle's bike cause they wanted to hear her say she was an enthusiast. FFS. They gave it to her when she rang & she's as much an enthusiast as I am for Cleaning dunnee's. Clowns all of them i tell ya.

I went with QBE and never had a drama, when shannons decided to do bikes as well they couldnt match the $752 that QBE charge me. You must be a high risk smitty, maybe they think you'll ride with ya eyes close using the force.
