I've had a few dogs over the years, the last three however were named before we got them, Phoebe, Strika and Soli. The ones prior to them were all named once we got them. We tended to let there personality decide a name. As an example, my last black Cocker spaniel, as a pup, he was a burly fat thing. He thought he was sooooo tuff!!! He would growl and carry on like a big dog. So we called him Samson!

It was shortened to Sam as he got older.
The dog previous to that was called Sandy. Both because of his colour and we were building a house at the time and he loved rolling around in the sand used to make the concrete.
So a good idea is to get your little friend home and check his/her quirks and personality traits before you name him/her!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
