Burky's thread, take 2, For what its worth the bloody flu's got me... even after the flu shot !!!

That's y im home on friday night watching footy.... was at the pub, but i cant even stomach my beer
Head thumping, bones aching, chills, sweats, glassy eyes and the usual sickie sooking....the worst is its the start of the weekend!! sickies are for work days!!....

Being a misery guts got me thinking - what are your tried and true remedies for knocking over the flu?

Plenty of rest, plenty of fluid's, umm vit c tabs, cold and flu tab's non drowsy. hope you get well soon possum.

My theory is if I drink enough to get me fairly drunk it has two effects

1 I'm too pissed to care how I feel
2 If there's enough alcohol to send me to sleep, it's enough to kill off those little flu bugs.

Yeh I'm with Mike . . . .
Also Cold and Flu tabs for me - as soon as I even suspect any symptoms of the flu I'm into em - you can never take enough drugs.

agreed shots are your friend on this one. Also it starts about the same if not better than Demozin

I don't bother taking cold and flu tablets - placebo effect if you ask me.

Take a cup of boiling water, add the juice of half a lemon and a good dose of honey. Add a decent shot of Scotch, stir and you're away! Then drink plenty of water and get some rest.

Try a fist full of med certificates and a shelf full of DVDS!

Thanks all, it's in my chest today... i think my neighbours wish i would just pass on already - how embarressing they text me to see if there was anything they could get for me - That got me stuck into the honey/lemon/soctch today..
aardvark your an ...soothes the throat and if you have enough it clears the head ....but im out of scotch now (the bottle had already been cracked...true it had.. )

Now im curled up on the couch with with a turkey (the beverage type ) and just had some night time cold and flu... so excuse me if i drop off..

Old Yugoslavian remedy passed down from generation to generation - in my opinion it's the best sore throat remedy on the market! Just remember to follow it up with plenty of water to help you keep your hydration levels up.

im weighing up getting a flu shot, i might get one on thursday or so (day before i go back to work), if i get it at all
