Windows media player just download the codecs, windvd, powerdvd either usually free with most dvd writers nowadays, think winamp (another free download) can play dvd's now too, can certainly play moofies.

im on my mobile now so i cant search. But look for klite codec. Has every codec u will ever need. The mpeg layer 2 codec used to playback dvd is not free with windows media player

klite is good, just make sure you go for the full codec set (20+meg) and not the mini download. oh and power dvd is good value, its just a matter of getting a earlier version (2.x comes to mind) as that was pretty lightweight and didn't have a registration key to unlock the full feature set.
