this weeks winner has to be............

Cops impound P-plate hoon's new wheels
January 17, 2008 - 6:44AM

An 18-year-old hoon driver caught travelling at more than double the speed limit in a Melbourne suburb has had his car impounded just six weeks after getting his licence.

The P-plate driver was clocked travelling at speeds of 130km/h in a 60km/h zone in Edgars Road, Thomastown, about 2am today, police said.

The teenager was travelling alone and will be without his wheels for the weekend as police impound his 2001 Nissan Skyline coupe until Monday.

The speedster is likely to be charged on summons for speeding, police said.

I wonder if he can actualy legally drive a Skyline coupe for starters... P platers are "supposed" to have this power/weight restriction but dunno if it's enforced at all...

I think that's only in NSW isn't it, although I don't see why it isn't national.

Not sure about the Eastern states, but the P-platers in their Skylines etc aren't normally much of a problem over here. You get the occassional tool, but they only pop their heads up every now and then.

Most of the time it's tossers in V8 Commodores with P plates... the VT seems to be the fuckwits car of choice. And oddly enough, young female drivers with attitude problems are becoming more of a problem.

here (and I think also Sydney) they appear to be weapon of choice for those P platers of the aaah...male ethnic variety
(apart from the foooly sik Vl Commodore drivers  )

they wack 4"drainpipes on for zorst and cruise Chapel St (although the plod have cracked down on the lunatic element)

the issue here is...these Skylines come in via UnZud from Nippon ..and none meet our laws
but becoz they come via the free trade way across the ditch..nothing is done about sub standard brakes and noncompliance with ADRs

however...worse is the turbo versions...poor suspensions poor brakes and add....a 6 week P plater with too much testosterone

The Vic stats (last 3 yr avg) shows that the nearly 30% of the annual road toll is males 18-24...hmmmm

cheers

mate the amount of import jap cars over here is astounding!! there are shit loads of em... i swear they are crazy- they have a skyline r-31 club that gets 50+ cars to a cruise (my mate is in it)... considering r-31 skylines are rare as in comparison to other types of skyline etc...

most of em over here tend to have a fair bit of respect for their cars tho- they are all throwing copious amounts of money at them (i kno a 24yo chick whos spent $40k on doing up a 200sx) ... so ussuaully they take em out to drift comps, or hills, and do less stupid shit around town...

theres always exceptions tho...

A generic R31 skyline GTS-T or GTR comes with awesome brakes... you saying that at some point they removed them and put substandard brakes on them? (I have never driven an R31 GT... so I am not sure about the brakes on them).
The world is round. It has no point.
