A few members here may be familiar with the PS2 game Singstar, and a lot of fun it is......especially for the Barbie Girl specialists.....

Some of you may have experience with Guitar Hero. I bought it last year the day after GH1 was released in Oz, 2 days prior to the young blokes 7th birthday.....watching him and his mates learn 'Smoke On The Water' was incredibly funny.....and now he and his sisters all know the words to some of the best R'n'R music from the 70's and 80's....and even a bit later....

We now have GH1, GH2, GH Encore (Rocks the 80's), and GH3 (Legends Of Rock) - and 4 guitars........he comprehensively flogs me on most songs (but not all, I can nail his arse on the 70's metal songs........ )


But tonight...................... I saw the first video clips of *ROCK BAND* !! (myPS3.com) - And the very first song being played was Suffragette City - David Bowie. Bloody awesome. I grew up listening to that stuff, and SC was one of the best songs he did.........just a taste of things to come........

Believe me, this game is going to be an absolute ball-tearer. The GH franchise has already exceeded everything that the original programmers thought possible, largest selling PS2 game in the US and Europe this year !!!

RockBand has - 45 songs from the Golden Age of Rock........and a band that consists of :

1. Lead singer
2. Lead guitarist
3. Bass guitarist
4. Drummer

It sounds complex, but the way they have developed previous GH games has now just been enhanced to include a '3rd' guitar neck for the drummer to follow, and the lyrics across the top of the screen in a style just like Singstar !!!

A big tele will also help.....

This game is only being released on the PS3 / XB360 platforms, as it is a bit too 'big' for the PS2. It will also include the ability to use an EyeToy camera, and broadcast your home-boy band across the globe to other users......your best mates............nightclubs.........whatever........

Hopefully it will be released in Oz soon......if anyone already has GH and a couple of guitars, then you may only need to buy a drum kit and microphone.....I am hoping the Singstar microphones can be used, then all we will need to buy is a drum kit........

I am *so* hanging for this game........life in the loungeroom will never be the same again !!!

The Vic HCC (Smek Billy and Groggles) have all had a taste of GH up here at Gos HQ.......

Gos- you'd have trouble getting 'Moto GP 2007' out of my PS2!

The young fellah has his technique sorted pretty good, the new guitar with GH3 is a cordless Kramer, he jumps all over the lounge, really gets stuck into it. I should take him down to Electronics Boutique on a Friday night so he can blow away all the teenage bogans who have *no* idea how to play at all.....

We have GH 1, II & Rock the 80's, and I am dearly hoping that Santa will pop GH III under the tree for me! GH is extremely popular at our place whenever we have friends over. Unfortunately no-one ever wants to go head to head with me on GH, they always make me play expert That's what I get for having an unfair advantage, I have played classical guitar since I was 10.

My brother has been raving about RockBand since he spied it on a forum about 6 months ago. He told us about it, and we are also hanging out to have a go at it. Unfortunately we only have PS2 with no plans to upgrade to PS3, so I think it will be a while before I get my hands on it.

All the normal GH games are only good on the PS2 anyway - unless you buy the extra peripherals for the PS3 that allow plugging in normal PS2-type controllers into the USB ports on the PS3.....

The boys are out in the room playing guitar hero III as we speak Gos! They got it for chrissie. (early opening as they fly to Sydney tomorrow to have christmas with their dad for the first time in 5 years ) So I should have some practice up well before the World Supers Trip mate!

I have never been a fan of GH, i prefer the real thing


but GH3 including slash, im liking the concept

I bet you like some of the music on it........GH3 has got some of the best songs of the franchise.......
