How small this world is

Postby Adel » Wed Oct 31, 2007 9:57 am

( What a coincidence ) as some of you know I crashed my bike not long ago well now I was left with a spare owners manual so I listed it on ebay and someone was interested in it and gave me a call, we arranged delivery the gentleman and I had a little talk, it turns out he had bought the damaged bike that I owned before from an auction for a track bike, oh I couldn't believe it and we both looked at each other with amazment  :o  :o  :o  :o :?

Anyone here can relate to that ?

Yep.... was filling my bike at a servo not far from home and fiddling with my GPS while waiting for a friend, when I was approached by a very lost BMW rider trying to get to Tambo... Told him I was heading that way so tag along and I will get you to your turn off.

While waiting for my friend we got to chatting... When I told him my full name he asked if I knew a Robert Joyce. I said thats my father.... Turns out he was from a very small town called Panawonica in Western Australia, where I grew up and knew my parents... We moved from WA about 20 years ago.

BMW rider still lives in WA although moved around a bit in the last 20 years and was in QLD on holidays.

Small world after all...

Wow thats a freaky story, and he lived half way accross the country and you still crossed paths
I also did run into someone I knew from Australia in london, we both went into a pharmacy at the same time through different doors and just faced each other

Not quite the same, but we were standing around at a servo on the way to Halls Gap and Gos and I noticed at almost exactly the same time that Mel's ZX6R of the time had a painted chain guard that we'd both seen before...turns out her bike had previously been owned by another (less active) KSRC member Josh who'd proudly showed us his painting skills on the chain guard on a ride a couple of years earlier.

Who knows, maybe it'll turn up on another group ride someday 8)

I worked for a feature film director called Fred Schepsisi who made a film called
.... 6 Degrees of Separation...on this exact topic

so yes I agree.. the world is a very small place!
About 15 years ago in a village in the Austrian Alps (there skiing of course) the chef at the
pension we stayed at was the brother of a guy I was working with at Holdens

and most recently, a mate who is a newsagent was telling me that his wife's cousin is a golf
professional...who happens to be giving me golf lessons...sheesh.

cheers

in 1997 my parents were on a Flight from London to somewhere in the US, anyway they were sitting beside a Maori woman and talking to her and she said her Nephew was in the Warriors league team (can't remember his name now) about 3 weeks later my parents finally got back to NZ and were on a connecting flight from Auckland to Christchurch and the Warriors got on the Flight and who should sit next to my Mum but the very bloke they'd been talking about! they told him they were talking to his Aunty and he went around the Plane getting the whole teams autographs for my folks! :D

See we all have our crosses to bear in life :D

Ran into a mate from Geelong once on a bus in Brisbane...
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
