Old car: advice needed

After years of loyal service, my trusty old Lancer has died :(
At this stage I don't think it is worth getting it fixed, as it would only be a bandaid measure and would be temporarily delaying the inevitable.

So, my question is this: what is the best solution - sell it to a scrap yard, or is there another way I could get a bit more value out of it (e.g. sell for parts)?

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated because I have NFI! Thanks :)

if you find a new car at a lot that you like then it might be viable to trade it in, you'll get from a few hundred to a few thousand off the price. Benefits are it is no longer your problem and you have a new car. Con's are you might not get the $ for it if you sell it privately. If you sell to a wrecker, its off your hands, but your back to square one if you want to buy another new car.

Whats wrong with her anyway? engine? or are there other problems too?

Thanks guys but unfortunately I can't afford to buy another car, so the trade in is not an option.

Now ya taliking, invite the boys around for a BBQ :D Col if it's dead and you can't afford another car then lose it to a wrecker, quick and easy, you'll only get $100 or so but it's out of your hair at least.

Google 'Lancer Clubs Australia', and check out their classified ads. Every car ever made (just about) has some sort of loyal following (deserved or not  ), so I can *almost* guarantee you that someone out there is looking for your car, for spares for theirs. Lancer's were a pretty popular rally car in their day, it may also be worth checking out some rally club classifieds for anyone looking for parts.

Good luck mate ! :)
