Finally... (long)

Postby ttc » Thu Sep 13, 2007 4:56 pm

You may not know or care  but I've been having trouble with my right hip since december.. (I think I hurt it trying to stop the bloody bike from falling over)

Feels like my hip is in the wrong spot, hurts when I ride and I can't move my leg properly.

I saw a doc in mar? he sent me to get an xray done, said he didn't know what it was

Still hurting, he was away when I went back in, that doc said I was fine, pulled a muscle, but i should get ultrasound done. She messed up the script, I ended up getting another xray and the ultrasound
That xray decided i had a calcification on the joint.

Orig doc referred me to specialist.
Saw him in April, he sent me off the get an MRI done, said xray showed nothing

MRI said laberal (sp?) tear in the hip joint, so after waiting to see him again he referred me to another specialist (he said ultrasounds are useless btw.)

So that was May.. And I hear nothing for months, I rang them a couple of weeks ago, looks like they'd forgotten me as I got a letter soon after to see specialist today.

So after waiting for an hour, I get to see him, he can't see the tear. He guesses it's there but can't see it on mri. Tells me orthoscopy is option but not highly successful. Tells me I can get nerve damage etc.. with no guarantee of fixing the problem.
I asked if it was likely to make it worse, he said chances are small, so I figured a small chance of it getting better is better than they way it is.. so please operate.

So then I got told the dangers by another doc, went to see case manager, she made me fill out a pile of paperwork, then interviewed me, then i had to see another doc to be assessed and then have a blood test.. 4.5hrs in total! They are quite thorough though, very impressed :D Especially if you have all day
So op is on November 2nd. If they see something they can repair they will... but that also means 6 weeks on crutches
If they can't see something that's fixable it's going to be a permanent thing :(

Good luck with the op Tanya, give me a yell if you need any help at the time!

 March to November in the same year in public health is equivalent to one week in the private system! Good going!
Cheers,
Anne

Hope it all goes well Tanya..

I have nerve damage in my left leg after the infamous putty accident, my thigh and part of my knee is still numb...its not that bad, you hardly even notice it or worry about it after a while..what im saying is, it may be worth a bit of pain for a lot of gain..

good luck with it 8)
