GUNS N ROSES TOURING AUSTRALIA.....**support bands added**

Postby sneakypete » Thu Apr 05, 2007 8:37 pm

i have waited a long time, but it aint the same band..... i will still go though :prayer:

MYTHIC hard rock act Guns N' Roses will tour Australia for the first time in 14 years this June.

Controversial singer Axl Rose is the only member who remains of the classic line-up which dominated modern rock in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the record-breaking albums Appetite For Destruction and Use Your Illusion.

Gunners fans have been frustrated by Rose’s inability to complete the band’s long-awaited new album, Chinese Democracy, which has been in the works for more than a decade and is rumoured to have cost more than US$13 million, making it the most expensive rock album in history to never be released.

Despite Rose assuring fans it would be out this year, the tentative release date of March 6 passed without the record hitting stores.

While Rose has developed a troublesome reputation as an unreliable eccentric, the Gunners have completed more than 70 concerts throughout the US and Europe on the Chinese Democracy world tour.

They will perform at the Acer Arena on June 23, with tickets on sale from April 26 via Ticketek.

Slash and Duff made the Gunners great...

G'n'R without them would be like riding a Honda... kinda the same but gay.

Will be going to the Sydney gig for sure.

it was mind-blowing. Rose Tattoo did a great warm-up of the crowd, and so did Skid Row, who *almost* stole the show.

At the time, we heard that the Melbourne show was a shitfight, so Smitty's recollection sounds 100%. Somehow Ian I struggle to imagine you at a Gunners gig   I have been a Gunners fan since 1987 20 years FFS has it been that long ??

Here is a piece of interesting trivia - the centrepiece picture in the 'Appetite for Destruction' LP was actually drawn back in 1978 !!! thats right, almost 30 years ago............its pretty scary when you think about it !!!

Mike - even though I consumed ungodly amounts of *something fast* that night, it was one of those *memory of a lifetime* gigs, one that will never be forgotten...................a bit like the KISS gig at Sydney back in 1995 ? 7 rows back, immediately in front of Gene Simmons !!!! Man, that was a great gig as well - the Original line-up, which will *never* be repeated in Oz..........for a member of the KISS army since 1976, it is a hell of a good memory

i was a proud parent watching my baby grow...

actually, i reckon Skidz did steal the show. remember Baz threatened to leave if there was no beer by the end of the song, and then he stormed off and got some!!! singing "99 bottles of beer in my hand.."

much better interaction with the fans from Skids than Guns

hell yeah....

 thats right, the coke comp.......those bonfires erupted all over the joint, I remember at one stage, I think it was Axel who came out and said that they wouldn't play until all the fires were put out !!!!

Skid Row were excellent. I saw them somewhere else during the 80's, but can't recall where it was :? too much of the good gear I think !!!!

Even though its not *the same* G'n'R who played years ago, its still Axel, and, well, with all due respect to muso's everywhere, a rythym section is still a rythym section !!  Lead riffs are pretty straightforward, and if it was anyone else out the front, I wouldn't bother..........but its not, so the Song Remains The Same as far as I am concerned......

I don't doubt it, i've heard some awesome things about some of the gigs over the years, some which made me regret not going to some of them. But i believe you about your fast comments & remembering. I may be young, but im not quite that innocent & dumb :).
