Livin' the Dream.....

Postby Gosling1 » Thu Mar 15, 2007 8:54 pm

Now most punters out there already know I am a bit of a Mad Max 'tragic', and am partial to the odd quote from the movie........

Well, here are some pictures of some guys who really are 'Living The Dream'.......

This is one of a number of Aussie Pursuit Specials (aka Interceptors), it was driven up to Silverton recently.

Most of the shots are taken about 10km out of Silverton itself, at the lookout on the Mundi Mundi Plains........this is the stretch of road in MMII at the very beginning.

Gotta love those Zoomies.......

I saw the original one from the movie when I was younger, def not the same owner cause I was only a little tacker really.. I remember talking to him and asking him about it. Was at a car show in western sydney somewhere in the 80's.

My mate in the states has seen a few replicas gettin round over there. They are very popular.

Dunno why they call it a lookoout though, it's a hill maybe 10 meters higher than the rest of the country and you're surrounded by friggin nothing, dead flat, shit boring scenery.

I did Silverton 2 years ago at Easter with another MM tragic and a few other mates.

you dont realise just how long that road is till you drive it.

it was an amazing experience standing next to the mad max interceptor when i was in brokenhill last year or year before now.

I don't think the version with the modern headlight covers looks quite right.

And it I was going to have a replica, it would be KITT - maybe I'm just that decade younger bootyshake.gif

Get the f$%^ outta here  Really, I never would've guessed.

Note for anyone else out there. If you have a list of things you want to do before you die "Watching Mad Max 1 with Gos" has to be on the list.

Sensational (there's that word again) stuff mate. It'd be brilliant to go to one of these things. KSRC trip to Silverton perhaps..... The "See you on the road girlfriend" tour 8)

Have seen 2 in Windsor, used as wedding cars   The Honda Rider is also a MM fan (freak?) but not in your league, Gos. He will be impressed.

Have an unopened, limited edition 1:33 model of MMII's interceptor :) at home.

As for owning one of those model Fords, hmm.....even as a Ford person I'd think twice, very prone to fuel vapourising, from memory. Usually at a most inconvienient time (like overtaking a big truck uphill :? )
